New phone (Lenovo P2),when I get a call the ring tone (MP3) only rings out for a few seconds and then goes silent although for the caller it is still ringing at their end.I can answer the calls during this silence so the call isn't being cut off.
Thinking it might be the dialler I installed theTrue phone app.Its exactly the same.
Are they any settings I am overlooking ?

Had no issues on my OP2/6P when they were on Marshmallow, could be something Lenovo decided to do.

Try copying the file to the Ringtones folder, it should then appear in the same list as the stock ringtones (unless Lenovo changed this behaviour). Then select that and see how it goes.

Any idea on the bitrate of the MP3 file? Try converting it to ogg and see if that plays to the end?

EDIT: Is this the same issue as yours?: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/P2-P2a42-Smartphones/Ringtone-after-nougat/td-p/3629946

OP in that thread seems to be suffering from the same problem as you but only after the Android 7/Nougat update.

Actually Nougat seems to have introduced a lot of issues for the P2, pointing to a software glitch on Lenovo's end: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/P2-P2a42-Smartphones/bd-p/lp05_en

Sussed it.With you mentioning folders it suddenly occured to me,the mp3 was on my sd card.Copied it across to internal storage and it's working fine now.
Thanks mate
