*** The Official MK8D Thread ***

My nephew tried to play a multiplayer race on MK8 - he had set his iPhone up as a hotspot, he could race online ghost cars ,upload data, said internet was fine on test. However when he tried the multiplayer racing it brought up an error message 2618-0516 and just wouldn't connect . The error code means not optimal for peer to peer connections, likely due to the network's NAT type. S
It says to reboot so rebooted phone. I have googled and a possible network provider issue?

Anyone else had this problem using their phone as a hotspot?

That's a good thing. Laggy players really mess up online play.

Im sure i read a story of a guy being able to play mk8d with his daughter who had an issue holding the joycon etc but mk8d as something that allowed her to play and not have to press any buttons, like an auto assist thing?
Have i dreamt this?

Because my daughter is 4 and loved watching me play zelda and mk8d but when she plays mk8d she struggles with the controls

Auto steering and auto acceleration are on by default. I find they do just enough to make it playable for my 4 year old. Even the 2 year old gets about to some extent :)

Great
Sorry i meant to say she struggles with mk on wii, not mk8d
Shes not played that yet

So all she needs to do with mk8d is basically hold the controller and she gets to play it

Yeah, to a point. I held the 2 year old's acceleration button down but it does do it on its own to a point. If she's not bothered about it looking too pretty on-screen though, I think you'll be OK.

The weapon balance is messed up when you only have a few purple in an online tournament. The ai saves the ghost for when you roll something good.

The tournaments also favour those who join for the first race which is a bit pants.

What's with the stars next to a cup you're already got in SP? I see the little trophy icon appears for each CC but there are 3 stars next to each one?

I think the number of stars indicates how many points you scored in that cup when you won it; so if you got first place in each race you should have 60 points and three stars, with less points earned (but you still managed to win it) you get less stars.

Ah right cool, thanks.

I'm still trying to work out how that red shell hit me from behind on that royal raceway track, sure I was trailing a shell at the time. :)

Some good races tonight, just a shame people couldn't stay longer. :)

I'll jump in with you guys at some stage, still getting to grips with some of the tracks/mechanics! Haven't played a Mario Kart since 64.
