Stephen Fry under police investigation......for blasphemy?

When did Ireland turn into the middle east ?
When Jesus was born.

It's interesting that all of the strict Islamic countries are hounded for their archaic beliefs, but no one really seems to mind that Ireland is also stuck in 0AD.

Get raped by your dad and have a baby with 3 arms? Unlucky!

Well there is a difference, In the middle east if you talk bad about sky fairy you get murdered.

My dad is native southern Irish and despises religion, Calls it fairy tales for adults.

From the people I have met in Ireland from my time over there I never met a single person who was religious, This to me seems like the old farts in power grasping at straws.

Ahhhh, it's good to see that Ireland and their religion have kept up with the times...

Slightly racist but funny, My dad, Southern Irish, Approves :p

You've never heard of RTE? It's Ireland's national broadcaster.

Catholicism is massively influential over there. Every little village has a church slap bang in the middle. I even found a church where you could pick up free bottles of holy water. I took one, and used it to water our pot plants at home. Unsurprisingly, it was no more effective than normal water. :p

I'm one of those weirdos that doesn't have or watch tv.
Not had one since mid '90s & even then, it was only used for my Amiga hehe.

As for your plant, did you forget to state some silly rhyme whilst doing it? If not, there's the problem :p

:)

@ Dicehunter:

It was more of a swipe at being backwards with regards to religion.

If you meant racist as in me having a go at red hair, then I didn't mean that. After all, red hair is actually my favourite. Just look at Amy Adams!!

I honestly don't care dude, It was funny and approved by an actual Irishman:D

I just sent that pic to a few friends of mine over in the west and they were in tucks :p

ROFL, This genuinely just made me LOL and drool at the same time XD

Father ted is a series that both made me love and despise Ireland in equal measure (I could say the same for my home land England), which is a round about way
of saying, culturally Ted made more impact than a 1000 bombs in the 80s!

As a child of Europe, Half Irish half German, I would like an island in the middle of nowhere, I've just had enough of religion this, Religion that etc... it's too much, I would have thought we could move passed the dark age by now.

I'm not really surprised even in the UK we seem to reaching a point in history where just offending someone (who is hypersensitive to begin with) is grounds for criminal prosecution if reported, whatever happened to common sense? it's no wonder police don't have enough funding when they're dealing with so many nonsense cases all of the time.

When did Ireland turn into the middle east ?

When people are executed by the Irish government for a vague rumour that they might have possibly said something that someone might possibly have thought was slightly less than obsequious towards the religious authorities in Ireland (and sometimes when they were falsely accused of doing so by someone who wanted them dead).

Which hasn't happened, obviously. So no, Ireland hasn't turned into the middle east.

Stephen Fry went the whole nine yards in that interview. Calling their god an utter maniac was arguably the least unpleasant thing he said about their god. Had it been the middle east, he probably wouldn't have made it out of the studio alive. He was also completely right, which of course makes it even worse from a blasphemy point of view.

Fair enough but it's on an ugly road.
