I think I may have 2nd degree Sun-burn

We can laugh but skin cancer ain't funny. It amazes me the amount of people walking around like boiled lobsters after a bit of sun...
Take more care in future OP.
to be honest, not sure how true this is, but I read this morning just getting sun burnt 5 times in your life can double the chance of skin cancer. Pretty insane really.

it was not exactly hot, only 13 degrees, but quite sunny/windy.

That is the dangerous situation. It is not about "Heat" as such, Because it was windy you didn't realise you were getting burned. The same risks also apply to driving in open top cars and even skiing holidays (Though there, altitude makes it even worse).

I work outside and although I do not burn easily (fortunately) I have a slight tan all the year round. even in mid winter. there is plenty enough sunlight even in mid-winter for an "Indoor" person not used to it to get burned if they are unlucky.

ON sun cream I highly recommend P20. (they do factor 10,20 and 30 versions but P20 is the brand as its the original)

It looks expensive, but its genuinely only applied once a day. I used to burn like hell but that stuff stand up to strong sun for me and I do not burn at all.
I recommended it to an Italian work collegue who bought some as she burned a lot and holidayed in Scicilly annually, she came back raving about it, her family were all trying to steal if off her.

Its a little bit of a pain to apply if your a little hairly (unlike Ace) as its more oily, but once soaked in you don't know its there and no need to reapply all day, so if your outside for the day, even if not bright sun its worth putting on.

I had the same problem years ago. Went to Tenerife for a lads holiday. First time abroad. Soooo first day, out by the pool, loads of sunblock on even though it was just windy and sunny but not too hot. Unfortunately I did not apply sun cream to my back again after I had been lying down on the lounger. We went out drinking and got in about 3am and my back was like someone had poured napalm on my back and it was still burning. My mate could hold his hands about 6-10 inches away and still feel the heat radiating from my back. Luckily I managed to get some after sun on but by time I was home for a few days it was like I was shedding another skin.

I had the same a couple years ago. I was out doing the Snowdon Horseshoe and it was a freak good weather day despite the forecast. I hadn't taken any sun cream or hat and having a shaved head didn't help. When I got back my head was glowing like a beacon and had started weeping and I was due to go to a comedy night that night too. I swerved the comedy night as I was sat near the front and figured I'd be a constant target!

Nightmare lol avoiding the comedy night was definitely the right move.

aloe vera is supposed to be good for burns. i would also shower head in cold water, etc but most of the damage has already been done you should have done that last night.

when you get home try slapping some natural yogurt on your head it will keep it cold.
you shouldn't really shower i would say, only to clean it. showering will dehydrate the skin. Soak a towel in cold water and apply to head until the towel is warm and then squeeze it out and replace the water in the towel with cold again (doesn't need to be soaking) and rinse and repeat until the towel isn't getting so hot any more. Then pat it dry and aloe

I feel your pain OP.

As a fellow baldy, I recommend buy the entire shelf supply of ladival kids protection factor 50 suncream and stashing it everywhere you go. Non greasy and doesn't smell.

Oh and hats lots of hats, I prefer a 1990s Stone roses hats which people tell me to grow up and get a proper hat.

You're not wrong, I'm quite dark and rarely ever burn... however when offroading in Fuerteventura, didn't even notice my arms were really bad until the following day.

I have a "kevin & Perry" type hat that Kevin wore in the Ibiza movie, thats what I usually have for holidays.

I've bought this though to bring it more up to date with the modern world. Gotta be down with the kids, right!

My head is still leaking the plasma fluid.

It will do.

I went to Florida in 2004, went to a waterpark and totally forgot to top up my sun tan, I ended up getting burnt on my shoulder and I got about a 4/5cm wide blister that formed pretty much the next day, had little yellow white spots almost in it, so I went and bought some aloe vera gel and applied that for ages afterwards, luckily that was the only I was at the waterpark, the following week in Miami I bought a UV protection swimming top and made sure I applied sun cream regularly.

All was good but some years later I developed a brown mole in that area and thought the worst, had to end up going to the docs and having it removed and checked to make sure it wasn't cancer, lucky for me it wasn't and it was nothing.

The sun is strong this time of year even if the temperatures aren't high.

Wide brimmed hat is better. Neck protection for one.

My sister went on holiday to Greece got a melanoma on the nose to show for it. Been operated on several times now keeps coming back. Worrying.

I've had great results so far with Ambre Solaire SPF 50 spray.

I toasted a part of my head when I went out for a day my convertible AMG ( I know, Shameless) I didn't realise until it scabbed over the next day. Looked like I had a funny birthmark for a few days.

Even though I tan quickly and have "olive" skin, I still wear sun cream - it's not worth the risk. Especially for Brits with pale complexions its even more important.

Sunburn is hugely damaging. I know you didn't mean for this to happen, but as much as I hate putting suncream on, and as much as I like going back to my swarthy dark skin, I'm still careful - like you I'm folically challenged! ;)
