Hi GDers

Taken the gf on a surprise trip to Basel, it's very nice and pretty here but does anyone know of any unusual places we can visit?

We've climbed the towers at Munster Cathedral and tomorrow we're going to the pharmacy museum (gf works in a pharmacy). Also going to cross the Rhine on the cable ferry, but after that I'm stuck for ideas.

Any suggestions?

Also does anyone know of somewhere tucked away where we can eat a meal without having to get a loan out first? It's eye-wateringly expensive here!

Comments welcome.

I was there for the Europa League Final last year and to be honest, you've covered all the things I managed to do! I did have a Pizza at Ramazzotti on Hutgasse off Marktplatz and I can highly recommend that. Also worth a look at the Chocolatier Laderach that's on Markplatz too, very impressive!

Excellent thanks! I'll check out the pizza place tomorrow :)

I think we might have seen the chocolate shop at marketplaz, there were huge slabs of chocolate which they broke up to sell.

You arent all that far from the Black Forest really depending on how long you are there, also Europa Park up in Rust only an hour away by car (one of the best themeparks in the world) if you are into that kind of thing. More locally is Steinwassen park, a nice smaller park with some unusual attractions and a mountain coaster. Rhine falls are probably a couple of hours away from Basle by train each way.
