Seems an obvious answer to this question, since July 27th quite clearly is after June.

Some people say that you need at least 6 months on your passport to travel, but I also hear within the EU this isn't the case and I should be fine? The govenment website doesn't state anything of this nature so I'd hope I can trust them, but who knows right?

So should I be ok? I'm not going to get turned away at border control am I?

Thanks,

The most common required time left is 3 months or 6 months, but each country has it's own requirements. So you need to check based on your destination on their requirements.

but if I were you I'd get it updated now.

I'm thinking italy, spain, portugal, france and netherlands those sort of countries

risk is updating it now i may not have it for june 12th

You're fine in the EU. You don't need to go to any EU country per se. However, the travel company (airline for example) may demand it. However, as long as it is valid then you'll be fine on any airline/train/ferry company.

I would get it renewed regardless. Saves the hassle and stress plus you need get renewed soon anyway. Might aswell do it now.

My only reasoning is right now I'd rather but the 70 towards a holiday, I won't need it untill November afterwards so that'd be much better time to renew it.

And if I did renew it now I'd not be able to book a holiday untill getting it back, and it might be much more expensive then. there is'nt any gaurantee I'd get it back some people say it can take 3 weeks maybe more with a backlog.

Now unless you're heading to certain countries (which usually require visas) then you can travel up to the day your passport expires. There aren't many standard holiday destination countries that require 3 or 3 or 6 months, but always worth checking.

I traveled to Tunis with a passport that only had 1 month on it.
Was a lot of stress and greif from the UK side and the Tunisian. If you have time just do it.

The issue is what happens if your hurt or fall ill and end up staying past your passport expiring? A lot of additional hassle to then get back in the UK

If you are traveling outside of the EU you require 3-6 months on your passport, depending on the entry country. For instance I'm on a South African passport, Living in the UK, But when I apply for a visa to enter Europe I need at least 6months left on my passport for when I return back to the UK, as this is my home residency

I'm just talking a week or two back in Spain maybe only 4 days. I wish I could just go pick a new passport up.

I had no issues getting emergency travel documents when I had my passport stolen a couple of years ago, they give me an option of flights and then gave me the documents with those flight details on them.

You're missing my point. Much harder to do if your limbs are broken r your seriously ill in hospital.
