Post your double din installs

Getting confused by people moaning about crap sat nav, surely you'd just install one you like :/
Older double dins used to come with Windows CE I believe.. so not many options. If it's android unit then install what ever you want from the play store. I used to run TomTom go and Waze.

Snap :)

I had a nexus 7 install in my recently sold EVO 9. Did you get the facia plate to hold it from RTA Fabrication by any chance?

I used an amp and USB Dac for audio rather than head unit. Amp was under the passenger seat and DAC and other bits were behind the facia plate.

Yeah Reece made mine, want a new one when the next nexus 7 comes out :)

Yeah reece is a good lad, i was the prototype vehicle for the EVO facia. Its my car on his website :-)

I currently have a skoda fabia vrs as a run around but im looking at buying an E46 M3 and already thinking about putting at a nexus 7 install in that :-)

Find the nexus 7 install so much better than any aftermarket stereo i have ever fitted in other cars, including expensive alpine units.

Here you go guys fitted this myself last week, really pleased with it too only had the car 4 weeks and was not too impressed with the stock RC310 head unit.

MK6 Golf GT TSI160
Ipod in the glove box
IPhone 7 in the centre console
Bluetooth Mic fitted above the rear view mirror
Gps Antenna tucked away inside the dash

Pioneer SPH-DA120
CTUVW01 Infodapter
CT23VW01 Fascia Kit

Steering wheel controls all working, plus parking sensors displaying on the headunit (thanks to the infodapter)

Just say Hey Siri and away it goes :)

Cheers all
hi buddy any chance you can tell me where you got all the kit want to do the same to my golf cheers

Everything I needed was much cheaper than a good double din, Google maps alone is worth it. Mines got wireless charging and just Bluetooths to the head unit in the glove box.

Hey there

The headunit was from Halfords, the infodapter & fascia kit was from Dynamic Sounds (who were really helpful) basically its all plug and play as the infodapter is set for Pioneer by default.

The phone button on the steering wheel controls does not work (it didn't with the factory unit from VW, but I didn't have the Bluetooth phone kit from VW either) everything else works fine though.

Also if you have not got parking sensors there is a cheaper version of the infodapter too.

Hope this helps :)

Cheers all

Please help!

I have 4 plugs in the din hole

Power plug etc...
Ariel plug
Air Con connector
and another plug I presume is the aux input for the audio jack?

Read your instructions on MX5nutz and these are the only wires coming out of the JVC

Have I missed something?

Why have the labels different things on each side?

so i take it these tablet installs are running sim cards for using the nav?

Nah my nexus was wifi only. I used navmii which just uses the on-board gps. I obviously had to install any app I needed using wifi at home or wifi hotspot with my phone.

Music and video was stored on HDD and also used obd2 plug and torque pro app to gather car data from ecu. Use the right kernel (Google timur) and the use of the right apps etc and tablet install can be an amazing bit of kit and replacement for standard after market stereo.

fair enough, was wondering simply as i'd always have gone for built in over nav because as great as google maps is the main time i'll be using it is in southern ireland where the cost would be pretty mad!

I think you need to join the wire on the JVC harness marked 'p cont' (power control) to the wire going to pin 1j on the mazda loom (might need to cut the cars harness).

You don't hear any sound at the moment because the bose amplifiers aren't being turned on - the power control wire is designed as a trigger to turn on external amplifiers (either aftermarket or the bose ones, as in this particular car).

It's all plug and play apart from joining these two wires so they are connected.
