What level of pre midlife crisis must one under go to post pictures on social media of yourself covered in mud after doing some assault course? #tuffmudder #late30s #middleclassteambuilding.

:P

The proper ones (rather than those rubbish things set up in city centres with a couple of small obstacles) are partly about pushing yourself to the limit. It's a very different experience to just doing a cross country in for example. Running 6 miles and then wading though calf cramping water before having to climb up 20-30ft obstacles and crawl around in freezing mud pushes you more than pretty much anything else most people would be able to do in their civilian lives (the original one was based around a Paras training obstacle course for example and was/is all about raising funds for an animal sanctuary as well as participants charity courses).

The electrocution and burning straw bales are just a "bit of fun".

OP I hope you're not (in the words of @Tosno) one of those 'betas' getting intimidated and jealous as a result of various 'alphas' from among your co-workers and friends demonstrating their physical prowess on Facebook while also raising loads of money for charity.

Yes I am jealous of groups of late 30 something-year-old women that put mud on their faces for a FB photo after doing the #atomicmuddytoughchallange and raising lots of money for homeless cats. :P

Raising money for charity is always good. I salute anyone who does it no matter what way they do it in. Plus I'd be doing that kind of thing if I wasn't such a fat arse. I used to be really fit when I was younger. Wish I still was.

Ok, well you still can if you get motivated I guess, but please don't share it on Facebook.

Alas having agoraphobia makes doing things like that a tad tricky. I guess I could just fill my cellar up with mud and crawl through that to recreate the experience?

TFW even the women from your office are more alpha when raising money for good causes.... :D

Please don't promote raising money for charities/good causes?
