Dredd TV show on the way

More Dredd, more Urban.. But Uncle Petey was bang on about the world/assets created for the 1995 film.
Initially I thought the 2012 was decent enough when I saw it at the cinema. It was when I went back and watched the earlier film, you can really see how cheaply they made it.

I would be well up for a series, but the setting really has to be a par with the comic creation. Money/budget, who knows... but i wouldn't be receptive to a series done on the cheap like the film.

If the story were to stay within Mega City One (at least for the first season) how much CGI would actually be needed?

Yeah, Karl Urban's Dredd in a world that looked something like the '95 film would be sweet.
The city was the only real criticism I had with the latest film, but it's totally understandable given the limited budget and I can live with it. If anything, it wasn't too far off some of the early Dredd stuff and Urban was more like that earlier Ezquerra version too (rather than the chinface from my favorite era), so....

I guess it's also a bit more relatable/believable for a near future thing compared to the nuts scifi landscape of the '95 film and a lot of the comics.
Personally, I love the crazy shaped mega blocks crossed with blade runner neon thing, but that's me :)

Depends how nuts they want to go with the cityscape.

This profile of the owner of Rebellion goes into a little detail on why they purchased 2000AD. A short article but interesting.
Given the promo picture for the series announcement. The vision of Mega City One looks a lot more like the awesome vision in the 95 Stallone Dredd than the budget (but infinitely better film) 2012 Dredd. Whether they'll be able to pull that off is debatable, I'm not too keen on full green screen filming unless it's really good quality. I predict most of the TV series will be set indoors :D
