That's a question of perspective. You don't have the right to challenge the appropriate Secrets Act (I presume US military must have to sign as we did) as a serving member of the military.
All well and good if you live in an Aaron Sorkin screenplay but in the real world of lobbyists, crony capitalism and corruption govts have to obey their own laws and those who point out that the govt is behaving criminally shouldn't be tortured for 35 years by that same govt of corrupt individual criminals.
I wonder what if any his punishment would be in any developed country other than Murka.
