Clear coating coming away on bonnet

It's worth getting fixed if you care about your cars appearance. The age and mileage is irrelevant if you are continuing to keep the car and want to maintain it.

If your car is merely a commuting and travelling tool, then I'd imagine, no, it's not worth it.

To fix that you're looking at a bonnet respray. Probable cost of somewhere between £200 and £500. If you like the car and it's otherwise tidy, then sort it. Entirely up to you as to the car's value (monetary or otherwise), though.

you may find it is more economic to get a bonnet in a close colour from ebay/scrap-yard.
I had an old e36 and I think it cost me £40 delivered dpd, and maybe a morning to do transplant.
... and you need a reciprocating saw to cut up the old one, so it fits into the car to take to the tip

I say if you like the car and want it to look good, the lacquer peel bothers you, then do it.

Mines in at the moment for a front end respray not a fancy job but it is crap as it stands and it's costing me £300 bonnet, wings, bumper, blended into doors but that's based on not ripping the car to bits. I know it's not "proper" but the car isn't even worth 2k. But I will feel far happier with it done.
