Mate over the road is changing or was the drop links on rear of his Mondeo Estate - trouble is we can't work out how to remove top fixing - They are not held on by nut -- After trawling net and the tube I finally found a exploded diag which shows that the end of roll bar has a stub on it which looks like the drop link slides on but can't see what then holds it in place - It has what looks like a domed head with no spanner flats or allen key hole. If it is a stub then we can't just angle grind it off - we could if we took roll bar off and drilled out stub and used bolt's - but that's a last resort.

Any one got any better ideas or know exactly how it's fixed on.

As I recall, there is a choice for the rear drop links/ARB assembly.

One type is retained by a nut and bolt and has an inner steel sleeve.

The other does not have an inner steel sleeve and is just pressed over the studs you describe with some liquid soap as a lubricant until it pops into place.

(To remove, just prise it off, again with some soap as a lubricant)

You need to ensure that you get the drop links without the steel inner sleeve.

Orionaut.

You was smack on - all arms replaced except drop links -need to change the ones he got - Was very surprised that the arm bolt's came out of a 25 yr old Ford with no problems - I remember my old Mk3 Zodiac was a right pain with rusted bolts

Anyway thanks again for the info - didn't even tell you how in Haynes Manual.
