I don't think it'd be a speaker - they don't tend to fail with a bang.
An amplifier could - a capacitor or MOSFET can go with a right pop - but they wouldn't be in a place exposed to the public.

I hope everyone involved is OK.

Pretty sure you can make a louder sound with an arena full of speaker hangs than by blowing up an amplifier.
