PPI Claiming

Oh interesting. How long between submitting your resolver request to getting a response, I'll assume from TSB? Two weeks and not a dicky bird yet.

Got a phone call within 2 days I think asking for more info and then a letter a couple of days after that.

I'm so busy right now the temptation to use one of those companies is hard to resist..........

Out of curiosity, if you visit the Resolver workflow page that is created as part of the submission does it reflect you got a response from the bank?

I've just checked. It doesn't look like its a two way thing. I think I'm supposed to update/add things not the bank

Tempted to spend some time on this. Had numerous loans/cards etc at different addresses. Think half the issue will b remembering when I took things out and where I was living.

Can you trust me the company name u used?

Took out a loan with Midland in 1996 to pay for a postgrad course. It definitely had PPI.
Would it be possible to claim through HSBC, as Midland don't exist anymore? Not expecting anything, as I've not got any paperwork at all, but as mentioned on the thread, no harm in trying.

Yup, in most cases the names that have vanished have been eaten up by someone else and so the PPI responsibility has changed hands.
My wife is currently going through some claims herself and she has one in against Tiny Computers - still not sure exactly where that one is ending up.

My very first one was Egg (now owned by Barclaycard) and I've got a claim in with Mint at the moment too, again not too sure who is actually dealing with that one.

And funnily enough I've just had a letter drop from bank acknowledging the PPI submission, via Resolver, and stating a response within 8 weeks.

I have no where I can think of I could have been mis-sold PPI. Never had a loan, I don't have a mortgage, I have 1 credit card I took out last year but I pay that off in full each month so I can't see where or if PPI is involved.

I feel I've only had 1 instance where I was miss-sold something and that was with an OcUK competitor who shove some crap into the basket at checkout and I didn't notice it until I was reading the delivered invoice. I took up a complaint at the time but didn't get anywhere with it.

I looked at Resolver for a few companies and another OcUK competitor I had the misfortune or purchasing a Roccat Kone+ from is on there. I went through Resolver as if I was gunna complain about it and the advice given is great and if I knew then what I know now about the Sale of Goods Act wherein a product must be fit for purpose I wouldn't have had so much strife getting that horrific mouse returned. I already had it replaced twice for the same fault and they was pushing a 3rd on me and in the end I had to play their game in waiting for it to go out of stock then making my claim where I could then get it refunded.

I wish they'd just stop the compensation scheme now. It feels like an eternity since it started and it's just breeding more of the "let us take 30%" types as people can't be bothered to fill in some forms.

But it is always the customer's choice. I know someone who did pay all of the fees because he wasn't going to bother.
So, wasn't going to bother - £0 in pocket.
Speaks to a PPI company who pocket a silly amount of money. However let's take a £500 payment.
Sure the recovery company will take £180, however that is still £320 in his pocket - for signing two forms.

Let's also be honest that a vast percentage of that PPI was mis-sold. The stuff I claimed was either me being told I had to take the PPI to be accepted for the loan, or it was added on without my knowledge.

Felt slightly dirty yesterday in submitting a case via Resolver against HSBC from 2001.

Nothing to loose really as it took 5 minutes whilst I was waiting for a conference call to start.

Why? Was it a blag claim? :)

I hadn't bothered until now as I previously could not be bothered with the forms for a predicted claim less than <500 quid. It was only this thread and the Resolver submission form that has eventually prompted me.

I agree there are untold chancers out there but if you have a legitimate claim and the window to claim is still open then why not.
