Hi all,

Due to my strange body shape; I'm getting fed up of wearing ill-fitting shirts and the constant lottery when buying them.

I want to resort to made-to-measure; where do people recommend? Ideally I'd like to enter in some sizing online and pay around £70 max.

I'm based in London.

Thank you.

made to measure is generally a bit more than that

though M&S do offer some sort of 'made to measure' service - that might be worth a punt for one shirt

you could also try perhaps going to the usual suspects that always have discounts/sales on - TM Lewin, Charles Tyrwhitt - buy some cheap shirt from them and have it adjusted somewhere

I got 2 for my bday for less than 40 quid each, Oxford style. You really don't have to spend a fortune. There is tons of places.
Double check all your measurements....

itailor.com is awesome, tried one on a whim a while back and now get everything from there. Takes a while to arrive but it's well worth it :)

I've used Dress2Kill before. Can't remember the exact cost but definitely in your ballpark. They're always advertising deals in the Metro too.

Lots of options and I've always been happy with the quality and fit.

had a few things from them, no complaints here. but its all about getting measured properly and thats the hard bit. Got any friends of friends which are tailor and could measure you properly?

or perhaps a proper tailors would be willing to precisely measure you for a price.

Yeah my missus fancies herself as an amateur seamstress so managed to get all my measurements taken very well :)

I have to account for large meals and lots of beer but give an extra inch around the tummy to allow for that :D

I've used a few and never really had a bad experience. I must say if you like M&S quality then their made to measure shirts seem to be made and last like their off the peg shirts. I also find some of the other online tailors bewildering with their choice of fabric but you know what you're getting with M&S if you buy their shirts already.

Their choice of fabric is whatever they can get as cheap offcuts in Cambodia after the big boys have done their run of 10,000 shirts. That'll be why it's so random.

I have used them too, decent shirts! I think they were around the £70 mark.

Guess so. But it does allow you to have some natty highlights on the inside of your collars, cuffs and plackets which you can't get with M&S.

Seeing as is the most recent thread...

Any suggestions for snazzy white shirts - I'm sure there's a technical name for them - for going out/evening wear? I don't need shirts for my work and not that off the rail stuff ever fits well but I only ever see dull flimsy looking stuff you'd wear to work. As my job's in East India dock I could go to A Suit That Fits up the road in Canary Wharf and get measured etc but I'm certain they're not the cheapest option! Dressed2Kill looks promising too (their Southwark shop would be easy to get to).
