Theresa may calls for tighter internet regulations after London attack

It sounds rather opportunistic after having failed to garner support for it before, is this the hardline stance she was talking about? expanding the already orwellian state? what was that about carrying on as normal and not letting terrorism change our way of life?

Has it even been established that the perpetrators used encrypted services to plot their attack?

It just compounds her complete lack of understanding on the matter

It's ridiculous that you can have politicians in charge of health, education and science etc. that have no experience in the fields. I think it's probably worse with technology as half the time the policies don't make any sense and also don't even work. For example they have banned certain file sharing websites. But it takes 5 seconds to google proxy to get around it. I there was somebody in charge who had a clue about tech and the internet they wouldn't have even bothered as it was a pointless and ineffective policy.

Same is the case of issue arising out of this mayhem, they think that terrorist are making a good use of technology particularly encrypted messages at their helm to carry out their activities. However, what I believe is, this all is going under their nose and instead of addressing the root cause, they are targeting the already compromised internet privacy.

She's a berk, as is Amber Rudd.

The most annoying thing is that in these recent attacks, the people were known to the intelligence services and in one or two cases - family/public had actually contacted the police to inform them about extremism..

All the information they needed, they had on a silver platter and it didn't help... a bit worrying to say the least.

Three terrorist attacks, before finally saying 'enough is enough' and then declaring that the internet must be regulated while cutting police forces by 20,000. Beyond laughable.

The people responsible for the London attacks on Saturday have recently been on national television flaunting their beliefs.

It wouldn't have needed much of an investigation to deal with them.

Yeah, and if they don't have the resources to investigate people who are reported, how exactly are they going to monitor everyone on the internet?
That's the question haha.

How comes each attacker is known to them, if they know they're involved and are in the mindset to do something like that then you clearly have enough access to find it out. Assumption that everyone is using WhatsApp or the internet to communicate is mad. And what's even madder is the fact that they believe that they can control it. The scale of is ridiculous. The amount of data is crazy.

Typical knee-jerk reaction showing a complete lack of understanding of the technology and the problem.

Theresa May was home secretary at the time, (until July 2016) the documentary was aired in January 2016,

All rather embarrassing really......................
