Paris - gunshots/explosion (no antagonistic posting please)

You know, the ironic thing about all of this is that we (facebook sympathisers, etc) bemoan the fact that 100 people were bombed in Syria and no one cared over here. We didn't vigil, we didn't one minute silence, we didn't bat an eyelid. Essentially, we need to do exactly the same thing here. Our press need to stop reporting it, even on home soil, as all it seeks to do is give strength to the terrorists and what they are trying to achieve. Instead of our intelligence services distrubting Daesh media outlets, they should be disrupting our own, IMHO.

This is pretty much what the media does and I've been saying the same thing for over 5 years now. The fact is the media propagates terror to every corner of the country, media allows a nutcase with a hammer to terrorise an entire nation (heck TWO nations at least in this case).

If some terrorist whacks someone over the head with a hammer, nothing really happens, no one is terrorised, maybe 10-20 witnesses might be shaken up...... Then the media gets involved and BAM they let the terrorist win, they finish his job for him..... And more importantly, they tell other nutjobs/terrorists that they will be on the world stage if they just grab a hammer and try whack someone.


IF they MUST report things, they should be kept short. They should NOT use words which linguistically accosiate other people to the atrocity, such as "jihadi JOHN", but there have been thousands of such linguistic assosiations.

The report should simply read: "deranged **** blows himself up along with 30 innocent people" on live news and that's it. But they seem to make out as if he's actually some sort of soldier of Islam - which is just what the terrorist wants ffs.

Alternatively we can have a free press that reports facts and work on improving our rates of dealing with terrorists before they commit atrocities.
 
One of the most terrifying things in recent times is that "statistic" flying around which claims a certain percentage of UK people sympathise with terror or don't mind an attack or something.

What an absolutely stupid thing to publicise. OK if they want to get that information for intelligence purposes that's great but why the heck would you publicise such figures just to tell a bunch of terrorists out there that they have fans out there?

Surveys that were carried out by Pew Research.
 
Interesting bit on BBC News 100+ days a minute ago.

They have a female news anchor in Washington and a male in the UK, and the female anchor was discussing the disproportionate coverage that the Hammer attack in France got on US news today vs the Orlando shooting where 5 people died which got almost no coverage and also the Kabul bomb that killed 100 that wasn't really reported either. Then they basically said "We are part of the problem"
