I need to post a small parcel to Italy today to arrive tomorrow, best way?!

Road trip ?

:D

Cheers guys, ended up going ParcelForce Global Express. You have to drop it off to the depot on the day, before 3pm, so they can get it to FedEx for 4pm, who then get it to Europe and delivered for the next day. If you go to the post office, it takes an extra day.

A little miffed though, the online calculator quoted approx £36. Lady on the phone said to just come down and I could pay there and the bloke there charged me £47

I've been charged more by paying at parcelforce office and was told paying online was cheaper, I could then have dropped it off.
Andi.

What's annoying is that I asked the lady on the phone, she said to just bring it on down to the Depot. She didn't say anything about it costing more. I would've been happy to pay online before going down.

Parcelforce do a next day service. For a 2kg parcel (20cmx20cmx10cm) it's £39.10 + VAT. Whether or not you could make the cut off for today I don't know,
Nailed it. :p

Oh and £39.1 plus the vat is £46.92 so not surprised at what you were charged to be honest!

Does anyone else think it's pretty impressive that you can send something fairly late for next day delivery in another country? Obviously it's not the most environmentally friendly way but it's pretty damn good. Imagine telling someone in the 1900s that this is possible.

Sending a box of pasta, what sauce..... :p

Four cheese, of course!

Yeah, it's not bad considering the speed and distance!

On their calculator it does quote less than that though, it was literally just a letter. Had to post some 'original' documents, because somewhere wouldn't accept an email

Even though the original documents look like they came straight out of a bog standard printer.

Yep, it's pretty decent, especially when you consider almost none of this stuff goes on a direct flight.
We do overnight delivery to Malta for example, you could have an item collected at 6pm, it would then travel from a UK airport to Liege in Belgium, then to Marseille, then to Malta, and still be delivered before the afternoon. Not bad going.

Its impressive when you consider the Amazon Prime order I made earlier for next day delivery turns out to be actually two days and its in the same country!
