Hi guys

My mum is looking at purchasing a AUC X3 for around £25k in the next month or two. Before anyone says, no she doesn't want a 3 series estate, she has back problems and thus finds it difficult to get into and out of a lower down car. Test drove the Q5 and XC60 also but she prefers the X3.

We test drove a 15 plate m sport with pro nav a couple weeks back and it was quite nice, however had the sport suspension. Although it wasn't too bad I understand SE has a softer ride?
2.0D is ideal, but I noticed 3.0D comes up often for around this mark also. Dad is not keen on having 3x 3.0D cars in the house though especially as mum only uses it around town

Any must have options when buying it used? She definitely wants pro nav, I say xenons would be nice also and heated seats come standard. Anything else I am missing? IT looks very difficult to find an M sport with M sport suspension deletion or adaptive dampers for around £25k with the xenons and pro nav. The cars for £25k are usually 13/63 plate.

Is there anything missing with this car - http://www.sytner.co.uk/car-search/7370039-alert/ ?
Options are very confusing, does the Bluetooth thingy mean it can stream music from your mobile phone?

Thanks

Nothing really missing spec wise there, though there are only marginal differences in running cost between the 2 litre and the 3 litre. The 3 litre is considerably more expensive, however.

If it's only ever used around town, a diesel is probably not a sensible choice though with the X3 there are no petrol offerings.

We do want a petrol, but the XC60 is not offered in petrol, Q5 petrols are very rare here in Leicester and everywhere it seems and the specs are usually not great, and the X3 doesn't offer it either
It's a shame as if there was a petrol we would jump on it

Would you say that car is worth looking at? It seems for that price it is a very good spec for an AUC

Looks good, and that model X3 is such an improvement upon the older pos one I had as a runaround once :D I would look at the new model X1 also though to be honest, if the space in the X3 isn't what she is after, the X1 has a high driving position etc .

We saw an X1 in the dealer but she said it was too small as she does all the shopping and tends to fill her car with junk in the boot lol

Almost 1/10th is quite a big difference
She likes the X3, seen the X1, she wants the X3
Unless the X1 is massively better than the X3?
Also with the seats down the capacities are the same. 8% really isn't a big difference, I wouldn't move jobs for an 8% raise!

Just on boot size, make sure you're definitely happy with it. We were looking at 3 series tourers as the boot length was just long enough for the pram length ways, and assumed the X3 would be at least as long, however the pram wouldn't fit in the same orientation so we ended up striking the X3 off the shopping list.

Ended up with a 5 series tourer in the end for even more space! :)

Is a new shape X1 with a similar spec to my OP car really doable though for £25k? I am looking at the AUC site and they start at £27k for a "poverty spec"

Boot is bigger (longer and wider) than her current ****max (sorry c-max :D ) and she doesn't struggle with it at the moment
No prams I am her youngest at 18 :)
Only time we would take longer items is probably to the airport and we would take dads A8 in that case anyway

Seems odd as list price is 27k. Can normally get 15% off that.

Auto trader has quite a few sub 25k. New shape.

Keep in mind auc won't be necessary, they'll still be under full manufacturers warranty anyways.

Didn't think of that, will keep it in mind
Ones on auto trader sub 25 seem to again have quite poor spec though - certainly nothing like the one in OP with adaptive dampers, pro nav, upgraded lights front and rear etc etc
I'll ask mum when I next see her

X3 is being replaced this year, should you figure that into price you pay ?
or is there so much diversity of BMW models now, with different renewal dates, so that impact on values is negligible

Nah, you often find as a model is going out prices will take a hit. At least on the newer registrations.
