Noctua - New fan blade design 2017

I've got Noctua fans now been ace....But I don't have a windowed case......I'm getting a new case, With a window

Please tell me they do a better colour......

So Noctua's new generation fan is basically a design Scythe came up with over 8 years ago... with some tweaks? A plastic heatsink cover. And special fans that finally are just black?

Haha. I did kinda think the same when I first saw their new blade design. Looks very similar to the Gentle Typhoon.

Saying that I am still interested to see how these fans perform.

mmmm i wonder when these would be available - just purchased 3x NF-A14 140mm PWM fans for my radiator but these new ones seem to work much better. I didnt see anything about the actual dBA levels but anything like the current batches. I may be interested.

Well, it takes lots of effort to hide that they're copying others after running out of own tricks to try and coming up with fancy advertising lines.:p

With that huge motor area available for moving air is just heck lot smaller than in Scythe's Slip Streams and moving same amount of air needs higher rpm.
Though maybe they this time have bearing/motor without those horrible "steps" making whole thing shake like vibrating roller from very spiky torque/rotation of motor and blades.

Because never had any reason to be impressed by their fans which have been really about all kind of trickery.

Original S12 fan was so quiet because it was almost completely pressure impotent and could move air only to downwind.
(big gaps between blades and blade tips and frame leaking air back)
SPCR had case of headache when their test method at one time showed those being best fans but users had temps even going up.

P12 has those horrible steps in motor/bearing.
And can agree with SPCR that some kind resonances caused by fashion hype notches in blades might be mixed with propeller airplane flying at distance.

F12...
Same vibrating motor and putting obstacles aligned with trailing edge of blades to path of airflow separating from blades!

you can get the industrial grey one's, i think - not much better, so if your after yellow with pink spots, your outta luck .

I know what you mean, but i kinda like the colour now, it tells anyone who knows a bit and looks at my system that i have the best, ha!

Looks like Nidec's D1225C12B5AP-15 and others that were sold by Scythe as Gentle Typhoon. These are using new stronger material that costs about 4 times as much as normal plastics, have very close impeller blade to housing tolerances .. and will cost more than 30 quid each. They claim the increased price is because of the increase in material cost, but anyone with much experience knows material cost is a small fraction of retail price. At a guess standard plastics cost in a fan is maybe £0.50 so 4 times as much is only £2.00 .. so doesn't justify doubling cost of fan. But 4 years to develop adds a significant cost that need to be recovered.
