Spec me a vacuum cleaner

Do most of you with the Miele not have carpets. My parents have a C3 which we borrowed when we moved in and while it seemed to clean well the following week after getting a Dyson it lifted so much extra dirt i put it down to the motorised brush.

My house is a mixture of carpet and vinyl flooring. The C3 picks up everything. I have to remember to turn the suction level down when doing the kitchen etc else it'll pull it off the floor!

I am reading a lot of conflicting reports on dyson vs all others. Initially was going to go for dyson, however, after some more research I'll probably go for the Miele C3 Cat & Dog, purely due to the rationale on why bagged vacuums are much much better, as their bag, which is essentially one of the filters, is changed frequently so you always have optimal performance.

What about the newer dyson that doesnt have any filters, by your rationale that will be the best.

Funnily enough I used my new hoover this weekend - a Shark NV680UKT (I think), it was remarkable the amount of dust and dirt it picked up from the carpet that my previous Dyson missed.

We bought the same Shark at the end of last week to replace our loyal old Henry, who I repaired too often to keep going this time. I was gobsmacked how much really fine dirt came out of the living room carpet. I haven't had a chance to try the powered pet brush on the stair carpet yet but I am hoping it deals with the cat hair as well as it claims.

We picked up a Shark NV680UKT a couple of weeks ago. It's incredible how much stuff this thing picks up compared to our Dyson!

Get the c3 cat and dog with the rotating brush head truly awesome piece of kit.

We use to have an old Dyson 04 I think it was and it lasted years and years until it blew. Not sure how they are nowadays, plus i'm not a fan of all the ball tech they use. We went with a Vax long reach thing, and it's served us well for 4 years now.

Dysons are pretty easy to repair. It could be the motor is on its way out. I replaced the motor in my (now 18 years old) DC-07 last year and it's now good as new again.

I wish I'd have tried to fix ours as it was the motor or the plug connection that went. Doh, lasted a good 20 years.

i run a cleaning company with a load of cleaners and have done for many many years. i'd like to think i've had a good try of plenty vacuums, in all variety of situations, and can confidently say that miele are the best you can get. very good design. easy to store, easy to carry. the attachments are stored away in the device ready for when you need them, and hidden for when you don't. they sit up right on stairs making vacuuming stairs super easy. the power changer models are great as can set the power for all requirements. can't fault them one bit

I got a Miele cat and dog 4 months ago because I was sick of doing the stairs with a Dyson DC07... One way to ruin your back, I love that I can carry it all the way up the stairs with the little handle on it and that there is no more stretching of the hose!

They are brilliantly designed do many clever little details. I love the variable power it makes giving the blinds a quick once every now and then so easy!

We get a lot of the new Dysons through our depot... mostly the V6 and V8. In our household we have a Henry, It's pretty good but a lot of people don't like them and prefer upright vacuum

What about the newer dyson that doesnt have any filters, by your rationale that will be the best.

I accept that they are getting better, and one day they might reach a point when they are better than bagged, but as of now they cannot much a physical barrier that is the bag. What happens with bagless vacuums (and it's a realisation I've had to accept as I've owned one for 5 years now) is they continually clog the other filters because of their inefficiency in capturing everything that goes through the vacuum, to the point where the other filters become useless and clogged and performance deteriorates exponentially.

Well, finally pulled the plug on Tuesday and ordered a C3 Cat and Dog along with a Carebox and Mini Turbobrush all for £270.

Vacuum arrived on Thursday and Carebox on Friday, still waiting for the Mini Turbobrush.

First impressions are really good, our carpet has gone 2-3 shades whiter now, and build quality feels fantastic.

Very impressed so far!
