Acronyms you never knew

There are a couple of acronyms that I thought were ring-fenced:

AGM (annual general meeting) - I thought that was specific to the company that I work for, but apparently a lot of companies use this acronym.

FTW (for the win) - I thought this was specific to World of Warcraft only, but again I saw it used elsewhere in later years. Does any OcUK forum members remember when FTW used to be a banned word?!

Three that get used daily at my work...probably well known but first ones I thought of:

EMEA - Europe the Middle East and Africa
APEC - Asia Pacific
NALA - Northe America and Latin America

Thought of another

ICBM - Inter-continental Ballistic missile

I always thoughts NEWS was North East West South as in what's going on around you.

And yes I remember when FTW and Jesus pics were banned :p

I'm not sure there's many I can think of that I didn't know from when I was very young... but the one I remember learning last was probably TWAIN (Technology Without an Interesting Name): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWAIN

But it turns out to be a bacronym! Much disappoint :)

However, on the subject of acronyms, the American spelling of "Lazer" annoys the hell out of me!
