Car Audio installs.

Yeah you'll easily get the USB into the glove box in a MK7 Fiesta. You'll see when the stock stereo is out that it's dead easy to thread cables through to just about anywhere :)
Good..thats what I want to hear..stuff should be arriving today, not sure how long it would take me to do a full install, just hoping I have all teh bits on hand!

Cheers mate..was planning on putting the fuse just to eh side of the battery?
The "Earth wire" etc..can I use a cut off of the gauge wire that im getting ( if any spare, and use some of it?)
My plan is to remove a bolt in the back..remove the paint, and put it there.

Yes to all three :)

Ideally get a ring terminal crimped onto the end of that ground wire to bolt it securely.

Ohh yea I have a "range" of terminals and connections ordered to have on hand.
I was thinking as they may not arrive, I assume theirs no harm wiring it up as much as possible and be sure to leave the Fuse out till I can bolt it all firmly down?

Sure, that's a sensible approach, and fuse last is certainly something I'd advise to anyone.

I've got what seems like miles of cabling in my car and I checked each one at least 3 times before finally putting the main fuse in, even though each component has it's own fuse in a distribution block. Can't be too careful :D

Started a little tonight..holy hell...glad I did..so much more to taking out the old usnit ( half the dash is with it)..hooking up and wiring the new one.
No I have to work out which out cable is the "remote" switch for the amp!
Ill post some pics..load of stuff arrived today.

Also, I have the RCA outputs for my headunit, but there also a sing lead hanging from the back labelled sub woofer, not sure which way im supposed to use..as the amp will only be powering the Sub for the time being.

Remote switch wire is usually blue & white, but it'll be in the manual somewhere.

If the unit has a dedicated sub output then use that, there will probably be some adjustments in the head unit that will apply to that specific output, like sub level, maybe crossover / low pass filter point and even phase that will help you blend it in with your front speakers.

Yea knew of the Blue and white wire so will have to have a proper look.
Just one last cumb thing, I assume then its okay to use jsut one of the RCA cable into the sub output....im wondering though where does that connect in the amp...l or right channel?

Shouldn't really matter, but again your manual will tell you if it needs to be on a specific one. If it doesn't say, use either.

Just had a look at the specs of your amp actually and it has auto sensing so shouldn't really need a remote wire to it, it senses when it's getting a signal and turns itself on. It's becoming a more popular feature but something I haven't dealt with myself.

And clearly I should have read more on that!
Will give it ago just with the rca cable and see what happens.
Really appreciate the info by the way, its these little things that will save me so much time today, weather permitting.

So done what I can..one problem..theirs no power it would seem getting to the amp.

Also had to be pretty creative with the Ground wire ( made a new hole!), added some images to see if theirs something obvious..but the LED Power light is not coming on.

Have you checked the fuses? Do you have a multimeter? It's been ages since I fiddled about with amps but doesn't it need the system control to be connected before powering?

You could test by connecting the systwm switch to the Live. BUT that will mean the amp is on perm so will drain the Battery... So only use it to test

Thing is I can't figure out which cable is the switch Connection! Looking on the back of the hu I don't see a blue and white line.
Also as posted earlier it was said the amp will switch on with a signal.

I've just had at look through the manual online and it seems like you will need a remote wire (system control) in your set up. Looks like the auto sense thing only works when using speaker level inputs rather than RCA like you are doing. Sorry about that, I did say it's something I had no experience of :)

Get a short piece of (any) wire and momentarily bridge it between the power + terminal and the system control terminal (just quickly touch the bare wire ends on the terminals). If the power light comes on you know that's your problem.

EDIT: Looks sweet apart from that, just don't forget to fix that fuseholder down.

The amp should switch on with a signal, yes. but still test it manually by bridging power+ to system control on the amp. If the amp then switches on then at least you know that works. It could be that the signal level from the HU is too low for the amp to auto switch on.

as for the HU, looking at the manual you have to take power control from the iso socket. Pin a5, blue/white wire. It's on page 20 of the manual :)

I have no blue or white and blue cables coming from the main cluster of wires from the back of the HU

Yep, checked manual. Theirs no blue white wire where it says they're should be one. Even then theirs no pin in the back of the hu for it.
