Electric bill - about 20,000 units out (I owe them) - How to settle?

Sadly, where I live there is only one provider for gas and electricity. However, all the meters are centrally networked, and you can log in to the company's website and see your exact usage at any time.

Spot the judgemental cynic?

I'm a bit confused here. Can you explain to me how you came to the username tinder? Were you signing up and couldn't come up with anything other than an app used for banging skanks? What's the deal?

dont they send you a bill with the estimated readings on, just compare that to the actual reading, do a bits of maths
the cost per unit should be on the bill

£3K on electricity on top of your normal direct debit?

is that even possible? i suggest you look into energy saving products OP. LED bulbs, energy ratings of A+ on goods, etc.

I spend £1100 a year on leccy, that's with a family of 4 (5 at weekends), loads of tech, pcs always on AND a very large collection of snakes / lizards / exotic pets, which suck up HUGE amounts of leccy and I spend about £90 a month.

£3k in debt is not a "few years" of no readings unless you have been paying like £10 a month?

Do you have electric storage heaters? If so, check they are not consuming electric outside Economy7/10 hours, when the input knob is anything but on minimum.

We discovered this issue 5 years ago, our electric bills dropped massively, I have to go round the flat turning all heaters' inputs to min first thing every morning during cold spells.

technology uses practically nothing. i have absolutely tons of tech and my bill is £20-£25 per month.

it's electrical heating (heating air or water) that saps the most. so electric ovens. kettles. electric showers. electric heaters, etc.

e.g. 1 electric heater uses more energy than 20 tv's or 20 pc's.
