All can see in differences is 1607MHz vs 1645MHz base core? And of course the boost clock to relate to that.

So it's an extra £80 for 38Mhz? Or am I missing something here? Maybe a difference not noted?

I would also like to ask, would my 3770k be man enough for 4K gaming, or even the rest of my current rig?

I have recently bought a Samsung KS7000 4K TV and game at 1440p. However I would like to make the jump to 4K. My current GTX 1070 would be sold to part fund the upgrade to a 1080Ti. Silly upgrade or worth while with my other current parts?

Any help much appreciated!

The 3770K is still a good CPU for gaming. If yours is stable at 4.6GHz, then that's even better and 16GB RAM is more than enough for now.

I've got the core edition - it replaced the 980Ti SLI in my signature. It happily boosts above 2000MHz as well. Effectively, the core and boost clocks are slightly downrated from the extreme spectre. Be aware that it is huge and you need to make sure you have ample space in your case. The Zotac 1080Ti AMP Extreme series all have a heatsink and cooler frame that is all metal - there is no plastic at all. It feels like a very solid and well made card and mine is yet to go above 70C. At that temp, it still boosts to above 2000MHz!

Ahh as I thought. All sounds great! I believe my GTX 1070 is the same size? Indeed a monster... Might have to make the upgrade or my KS7000 is going to waste at 1080/1440p...

Only difference is clock speeds.

Cheers for the confirmation Gibbo! :)

Not sure if there are any other differences other than clocks. Slightly higher binned chips?

I had the zotac AMP Extreme (£799) one. And it was a brilliant card. Extremely cool and quiet and 2063mhz max OC after a few hours gaming. Quietest Ti so far I believe.

Only returning mine due to seeing the MSI lightning Z which will fit my new build theme next month more than the zotac will, otherwise I'd have kept it for sure.

Yeah my 1070 Zotac is amazingly cool and quiet, hence if I was to upgrade Zotac is the only option for me tbh. Amazing cards!

Ha after making this thread I just checked my CPU overclock, was fine a few months ago when it was colder, but was touching 80*c in BF1 today ouuchh. So backed her off to 4.2Ghz @ 1.116v instead of 4.6Ghz @ 1.260v. Seems to be maxing out at 75*c with Prime now. Forgot how much ambient temps can effect things. Even more reason why the Zotac Extreme cards are worth it, cooooool!

Good case airflow is essential with a card like this. A lot of the hot air from the card gets dumped into the case.

Bear in mind that weather has an effect. During the summer, the ambient temp is higher, so the system will run warmer. Also if you're running a large air cooler, then that will be dumping hot air into the case as well.

Ive got 2x 140mm up front, 3x 120mm out back and on the cpu cooler push and pull. Ive got loads of airflow, just hindered by a smaller style case which is also in a TV unit. My current GTX 1070 hardly goes over 50*c atm with the fans hardly working at all or even not at all. So now the weather is warmer I think it's just showing up mu smaller CPU cooler for what it is and it's limits.

Just ordered myself a GeForce GTX 1080Ti AMP Extreme Core :D Then when it turns up I will sling the GTX 1070 on the eBay. Guess it's worth about £360-380, under a year old? £420 new still atm.

The Hyper 212X isn't that small. But yeah, if your 1070 isn't going above 50C, then you should be fine with the 1080Ti. I did set up a custom fan curve using afterburner though. By default, when it reaches the 60C threshold, the fans seem to come on at 100% momentarily. I used the Zotac software to turn this off and then set my usual fan curve in AB. So far, silent running, even with the fans ramping up to 70% under full load.

Yeah Im sure things will be all sweet. Can't wait to get it now and enjoy my 4k TV :) I didn't order till 7pm so don't think it will be here tomorrow :(

Thanks for all the comments and advice!!

I got my Zotac AMP Extreme "Core" GTX 1080Ti today. The core clock boosts out the box to 2037Mhz! Would the none core boost higher or is it pretty much the same card as the non core?
