So almost had my arse handed to me the other night. I was behind the newest shape Fiesta ST and the 4X4 in front of that was snailing along at 40mph in an NSL. She then turned off and I knew the guy was going to absolutely gun it. I had my car in sports with paddles engaged about 2 gears higher than the peak power as I thought there's no chance he'll pull away.

Anyway, the thing absolutely flew off at ridiculous speed. I engaged kickdown and floored the throttle and I could not close the gap between us.

Can these things really be tuned to that level of performance? Maybe I'm being naive but it's 1.6 - could it really have been running at 300bhp+. It was definitely modded the exhaust pops and bangs were absolutely absurd (and not to my taste I might add, everyone loves burbling on the overrun but it was a bit too much for me. Still, each to their own :)).

Seriously impressive performance from a 1.6 and one dissapointed M135i owner who judged a book by its cover :p

They don't weigh very much so are fairly nippy as standard plus will be a remap away from 215-220ish bhp in a car weighing what 1200kg?

Expecting to breeze along with one that was trying when you're miles away from ideal gear was a bit....ambitious

In a diesel you will probably have to change gear twice as a much as a Fiesta ST, that's why he pulled away :p

But people have taken that 1.6 well over 300hp without actually upgrading all that many parts. They are one of the best engines around at the moment.

Even the one I had with just the MP215 kit punched way above it's weight.

No way op you obviously were not in the correct gear at the right time your giving the Fiesta St too much praise there.
Standard they are 6.9 seconds to 60 and I have kept on the bumper of a guy I know who has one in my ST220 0-60 7.5 secs rolling from 30mph. Yes they are quick to 60 from standstill due to being light but over 60 say they are nothing impressive.
When I had my Focus ST225 I had a traffic light Grand Prix from standstill onto a dual carriageway with a mountune 215bhp Fiesta and he only had 1 car length on me until I stopped accelerating.
How many Fiesta's are running anything more than a remap? It would have had to be seriously modified to leave a properly driven M135

Probably some funky pumaspeed hybrid turbo build! Hybrid turbo can be anywhere from 270-300bhp.

Silly popping and banging on the overrun on that video.

People on here seem to seriously underestimate the massive power to weight difference (and be in the right gear to use it) you need to "pull away" from anything with a reasonable amount of power. At least without reaching really quite stupid speeds

As others have said, standard they are 0-60 in 6.9 with about 200bhp including overboost feature. A lot of people get theirs mountuned to around 215bhp which does make quite a fair bit of difference but they don't start popping and burbling. Chances are it was Stage 2 modded and running around 240-250bhp. Either way your car should spank the living daylights out of it. It's fair to say you just didn't give it enough cred and didn't push yours hard enough. I've had a bit of a play with loads of M135is in my 208gti (just for the lolz) and the M135i just destroys me. It's a astonishing car.

There are plenty of Fiesta's making over 300bhp now and as already mentioned they weight very little for a modern car.

You would probably need a very big tune in the BMW to match a 300+hp Fiesta lol

More than just a remap. The weight difference is huge.

I'm not overly impressed by the 135i. My Evo 8 is about 340bhp but I absolutely destroyed one and it was laughable in the corners. Maybe the guy just couldn't drive.
