I used to have a MP215 Fiesta ST. They are quick, but not particularly fast and no where near as quick as a M135i. The one you came across was most likely heavily modded. They don't pop and bang at stock or with the MP215.

Sounds like the gear you were in didn't help though, I mean they are still pretty nippy

Guys I didn't say he left me in the dust - I just said I couldn't close the gap between us and this was after kick down with my foot flat in sports mode. In any case at a certain speed I stopped trying and let him do his thing so I imagine at those speeds the 135 would have caught up again. I don't think I've ever been so surprised in the M135i - usually it annihilates most of the hot hatch brigade with the exception of the R and the A45 (if you can call them 'hot')

Still seriously impressive performance. It had a badge on the back that I couldn't quite read something like Tomomobile Tuning (not Monotune).

I think this experience together with the fact my mate has just bought an M2 is going to justify some serious tuning now. I've always been happy with mine at stock in 4 years of ownership but I think it's time to up my game.

It would be cheaper to drop down a gear before hooning it, than modding a car that beats 99% of cars on the road already.

Pretty expensive to mod the 135. If you want to do it properly anyway. I think you need to do a single turbo conversion to make big gains.

Turbo BMWs usually make a lot extra with a simple remap?

380-390 with a remap.

Usually a remap is enough for small gains. But for anything big you need to upgrade parts if you want a nice power curve and to actually hit the power target. Also to maintain reliability.

Well power wise as said it's up to 380-390

But remap does other things too, from a quick read online, pickup in higher gears in better etc.. which may have given the advantage in ops case.
