Hi! CarPlay is only supported via USB connection, this unit doesn't support Wireless Carplay.
I've not tried movie files, it might be worth looking at the manual.
It's not the unit faults
Car play is not currently wireless

AA = android auto?
I checked all the connections before I earthed the parking brake and it looked fine. I'm not too fussed, not worth the hassle of dismantling it for the tenth time! The parking brake wiring should have also worked but it wasn't having it so I'll just make do.The volume control should work if you have connected the correct wire mate
Thankyou. I don't have the unit in my hands yet. It should arrive Thursday.Hi! CarPlay is only supported via USB connection, this unit doesn't support Wireless Carplay.

EDIT, it does:

I never connected the Parking Break wire. Whats is the purpose? Allowing people to watch Videos on the move?
I have no desire for this...
So I called into Halfords to pick up the above JVC head unit I had ordered and I also arranged for them to fit it. (I have neither the time nor the skills)
I saw a special offer advert for the pioneer SPH-DA120 which worked out at £20 extra fitted. I thought why not get a pioneer instead of the JVC (if only for snobbery purposes). They were happy for me to swap.
However I was told I would need a lightening to USB cable for £65 on top of the extra £20!
The advert states fully fitted with all wires yet the salesman was adamant it needed a special cable which takes it to an even higher price bracket which I wouldn't opt for.
Does anyone have experience of this?
Why would you swap? In many ways the JVC is superior: Bigger screen, Android Auto, cleaner interface (IMO).
The £60 USB cable is rubbish, you can run it with a standard USB extension and then a lightning / MicroUSB cable.
Purely for the name(!) Happy to be told otherwise hence why I posted it here.
I am an iPhone user so AA doesn't interest me but other points noted.
Can you link to this cable I need?
Many thanks allJust to confirm that my DA120 did infact come with 2 usb cables, only got it about 7 weeks ago.
Cheers all
ThankyouYep, I've got a different Pioneer head unit (AVIC-F960DAB) but the DA120 is similar. It has 2 USB ports on the back but from Googling, the DA120 it seems to only come with one USB extension cable for you to plug in and route to wherever you want in the car. If a second USB port is important to you then confirm that is the case, otherwise you'll need to buy an additional USB extension which is only a couple of quid anyway.
Once that USB extension is routed out to wherever you want then you just plug your iPhone into it with a regular lightning cable and that's it. On my head unit, only the 1st USB port works for CarPlay so the second just has my music USB stick in.
I believe that you would need an adapter if you wanted to use the Pioneer AppRadio stuff but I wouldn't bother with that anyway.
ThanksThe Pioneer comes with 2 usb cables as standard, both have female usb sockets that you plug your devices into.
Got an Ipod plugged into one using the apple cable & the other I have connected my iPhone to via a standard lightning cable, just use the cable that came with your iPhone or failing that get a 3rd party one off Amazon for around £6.00

The above is what I use on my DA120 it works perfectly
Cheers all

lookin good, if it weren't for that logo it'd be convincingly factory looking! hell it looks a lot better than factory tbh
might sound a dumb question but whats with the slot marked GPS? does it use mobile networks or something?
Never a dumb question....Its for a microsd card with maps on it to use for Sat Nav for offline mode, the unit its self has WiFi so you could use mobile hotspot, i havent tried it yet but i have seen many great reviews that it works well.

If it wasnt so hot, id be more inclined to work on it somemore and get all the aeriels plugged in and wired
