980ti still good for 1440p?

Im thinking about getting a bigger monitor Im currently running a 24" BenQ 1080p 144hz monitor but fancy something bigger.
My thoughts are stay with 1080p and 144Hz or try going to 1440p would the 980ti still be good for 1440p?

Yea its fine for 1440p l. Also depends on what overclock you have on it also. For me 1500mhz was golden at this res
 
980 Ti is a underclocked chip at stock it's fast but it's not wow fast get it to 1450/1500mhz and 400/500 on the memory and it becomes very quick!
 
980ti is a monster card. It's mostly quicker than a 1070 once overclocked so still very capable.

You may need to turn a few settings down a touch for 144hz 1440p but you'd very likely need to do the same with a 1080 too to maintain a solid 100+fps on most games.
 
It's all relative to what games you want to play. Recent graphical heavy titles such as GRW and Hunter call of wild will make a gtx 1080 struggle at 1440p to maintain 60fps so a 980ti would have no hope.

Average fps is often quoted but that could leave you with minimums of 40fps which isnt much fun.

That is if you just leave everything at max, which is a really dumb thing to do as there is usually no visually distinguishable difference between high and Ultra, yet the performance impact may be huge.

Absolutely but when did this forum ever accept mediocre settings?

If you turn down the settings enough even an Xbox can do 4K (oops wrong thread;))

I think it goes without saying that when people quote 108p/60 or 1440/60 or 4K/60 that ultra settings are the unwritten rule. Happy to be corrected on that mind!

since when was 'high' mediocre?
 
1 980ti can run most games with settings tweaked @ 3440x1440 ok, SLI should easily do it providing the game supports it.
