I know more about used parts than new but a friend has asked for a build for £550.

Only has a monitor. I guess you can leave out the mouse and keyboard though.

Thanks <3

You would need to find a suitable case, there are plenty of budget cases, although make sure you have good gloves when working with them! Also, if budget can stretch just a little more a GTX 1060 gpu would see him better in gaming.

I would consider used parts when youre looking at a lower budget, you get so much more bang for buck. Only issue is, to get the best prices you really need to purchase stuff over the course of 1-2 months as you keep an eye out for well price parts. I recently bought my son a pretty good PC and spent £450 (Excluding monitor, mouse and keyboard). Took me a month or so to source all the parts.

This is basically the same as above but with a slightly better hard drive and the 4gb version of the graphics card (I wouldn't touch a 2GB graphics cards these days). It also includes a case but is a little over budget. I've saved some money to pay for the GPU / HDD by using a slightly cheaper psu and ram.

Change that case for an Aerocool Aero-300 and you have got yourself a nice build :)

As BinnsY has stated, his spec seems pretty good, slightly faster HD and also 4GB gpu, can't believe I missed those sorry.

Also as BazNaz says, change the case, I'm tasked with building a lot of machines and the BitFenix cases at the budget end of scale are to be steered clear of, very sharp, and poorly made. Aerocool cases also offer a lot of extra features for the price.

what games are going to be played?

heres something from intel side, not as good as the ryzen 1400, but enables you to have a ssd and of a good size too and a much better power supply for future prospects, the rx 460 is a decent card and would game well, but again it depends on the games, im not sure how a 460 is to a 750, but i could game quite well when i had a 750 coupled with an i3.

or for about £20 extra then add on the shipping you could have the better card that is the 1050.

Games like H1Z1 and battlegrounds so in my experience and those of others, AMD has been a bit of a problem esp for PUBG.

Thanks for the replies guys, any other suggestions perhaps if slightly above budget for Intel and nvidia?

If they can run closer to £800 you could have a better system in all regards.

If this is too much of a jump you can drop the 1060 back down to a 1050ti and get closer to the original budget.
