never had so much positive feedback on a car.

If i had 100k to only spend on a car i would be spending it on a Tesla... Much much faster
I find it bonkers that literally your sole criterium for choosing one over the other is outright speed. Do you only select meals based on their calorific value per £? :p

I liked mine but I wouldn't buy a new one, not for love nor money - depreciate too quickly and there are more engaging options out there. I'd still go for a 911. Interesting bit of hardware, mind, but the interior and infotainment/lack of other tech always left me slightly disappointed (as well). Found the doors could be a pain, similarly, and the range wasn't great. Etc.

Still, an interesting car and it did look great from some angles.

Really? The only thing I've ever driven with a better infotainment system is the newer gen BMW's. Spec and features wise other stuff looks good but when you actually use the systems nothing ever seems to come close to the BMW one. It just works and is so seamlessly integrated with everything in ways other systems are not. The Jaguar system for example, just... wow :/

How long did you have your car for?

I would not buy a new one but at 65k to 70k for a year and half old car I think is good value.

I think the option to adjust suspension / steering settings would be nice and adaptive cruise control other than that its fine

They are quite a big car now I revisit this picture I took of mine parked next to a friends a few weeks back.

Seems they need to fit better mirrors so you can see where the lines are. lol

Are they all in that colour? :p I don't think I've seen one in anything but.... either that or it's the same car I keep noticing :D

I think they only came in 3 colours, I'm considering buying this one (will swap the alloys) as I quite fancy a white one.

5 Factory colours (Blue/White/Grey/Silver/Black) as far as I know, but also offered with "Individual BMW Paint", so colours such as:

Customer at work has a Grey one - gets plenty of positive comments and attention from Staff at work.

The facelift will still have the pathetic 3 pot engine.

Lol, over £100k for a 3 pot! Madness.
Are you trolling or are you seriously missing the point of i8? Do you know what BMWs "I" line up stands for ?

Do you expect a V8 twin turbo from an M5 in it ? When it's supposed to be an eco friendly sports car? Which is exactly what it is.

Expect more cylinder reductions in the next few years, the next Fiesta ST is going to be a 3 pot as well. But it has more power than the current 4 pot and is lighter. But for a purist, yea it's a bad thing.

We're probably on the last generation of powerful 4, 6 and 8 cylinder engines. The only ones they can't really take below 4 cylinders are boxer engines, because it would throw off the natural balance and be less efficient.

Hatchbacks with a 4 pot = ££
German things with 6 cylinders = £££
Premium German and super cars with 8 or 10 cylinders = ££££
Rolls Royce etc with 12 cylinders = £££££
Bugatti with 16 cylinders = ££££££

Am I doing it right? :p

Since when did money = cylinders??

When things like the Golf R / A45 / RS get slated for having turbo 4 pots... there seems to be a complete double standard here because of its "eco marketing".

Even more confusing is how the 4 cylinder cayman / boxsters are reviled on here for sounding crap yet the i8 gets praised.

An "eco friendly" 3 pot mini engine has no place in a sports car. Especially when cars like the F type R and Audi R8 are in the same price band.

Not the system itself - that's great - just the lack of 'wow' factor elsewhere. The digital instrument cluster is great, but limited in its output. Same for the infotainment system. There's no real shock or awe on the interior tech front (which in itself is perhaps a side-effect of the car's age, more than anything else).
