Budget tyres for Octavia VRS mk3?

Do to definitely need all four tyres at once? FWD cars normally chew through 3 or 4 pairs of front tyres for every pair of rear tyres.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 is what you're looking for. It delivers great performance at a price only marginally above stuff which is quite a bit worse. Definitely the best back for buck.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 is £93 from black circles including fitting balancing etc.

Does anyone know if there would be much difference between the Asymmetric 3's and Efficient grips from Goodyear?

The Efficient Grip is a touring mid range tyre. The Efficient Grip Performance is a bit more performance orientated. The Asymmetric 3 is maximum performance.

And when i say "performance" don't mistake me for talking about setting fastest lap times and driving on the edge like a yobbo. "Performance" when it comes to tyres includes grip, feeling, noise and aqua planing resistance. The Asymmetric 3 is definitely worth the £6 more than the Efficient Grip Performance.

Thanks. Looks like its Asymmetric 3's then. Probably the best I can hope for for the price range.

Pleasantly surprised with these. Very good traction and braking in the wet (I mean absolutely soaking). Feel safe as houses.

Good stuff, definitely made the right choice. How's the tyre noise/roar with the F1 AS3? Any better than the tyres they replaced? The sound deadening isn't great in the Octy there is a fair amount of tyre noise in the cabin. The F1 AS3 is rated a few dB quieter than other similar tyres so curious to know if it translates to a noticeable difference?

I cant say iv notices any difference in noise but then as you say the Octavia cabin isn't the quietest place to be for a start. These are meant to be 5db less than continentals..
The grip I can say with certainty is a lot better. Wheel spin is a non issue in the wet in 3rd gear even accelerating as fast as the car will go where as the wheels were spinning up in 4th sometimes before, albeit they were getting long in the tooth.

In theory, they should be quieter but the noise rating is for passing/airborne noise from the tyres, so doesn't guarantee 5db less in the cabin etc. Once my Conti 5s are done, I'll likely replace with AS3 as they can't be beaten for price/performance imo, so would be nice if they were a bit quieter, but nothing lost if not.

Shame the Sound Deadening isn't better, I love my MK3 VRS for it's all round abilities, but with an hour on the Motorway everyday that extra bit of hush in the cabin would be nice!

Its probably just me I tend not to notice noisiness'. Not with a 4 year old and a 7 week old in the house. Iv become somewhat oblivious :D
