This is something that's been bothering me for a while. I have many gay friends, gay family and my mentality is that what people do in their personal lives is none of my business, so put the torches and pitch forks away.

That said, I just saw an ad for some or other gay tv show. This is nothing new, homosexuality has been in films and tv shows for decades and there's nothing wrong with that.

This show however, "gay and proud of it" or something almost seems condescending, patronizing towards homosexuality, like it's an affliction or something. It was in the same line as those TV shows that document people with Downs Syndrome, quite pathetic really.

Are the TV stations going too far with this? Why do they have to single people out like this, as if they need special attention?

I know if I was a gay man I'd be seriously miffed.

Unless I'm just being a , in that case, as you were.

I'm not sure there is a big issue - I think gay rights organisations are quite capable of speaking out on this if their community had concerns though, perhaps if they are then maybe you've got a point - have you checked?

It's pride month, they're going to make a big deal of it, special attention is the name of the game this month.

The sort of shows you are talking about are cheap to produce, there are loads of them and not remotely exclusive to gay people!

On the basis of having watched big brother or x factor you could start a thread called are talentless plastic people getting too much attention?

Me neither, but it's hard to avoid the ads when they're constantly being shoved down your throat.

Ahhh pride month. I was wondering why every other story on the BBC suggested stories seemed to have a homo theme.

Not that I have an issue, it just looked a bit too frequent to be a normal news week!

At least we seem to be getting past the hilarious antics of people like Louis Spence and Alan Carr who are like the black minstrels of the gay world like OMG THEY ARE SO CAMP IT'S HILARIOUS.

I don't come across such ads and do not watch TV really, so it doesn't bother me. If you don't like, you don't need to watch

Oh; there was me thinking that was just their personalities!
