Dishwasher recommendations

In all fairness we had a cheapo built in indesit in the last house and it was fine. This house we have just renovated and put in a £800 Neff one. Not much difference in cleaning ability. It's quieter and has a fancy light on the floor.

not Hotpoint

That is a Bosch, not a Hotpoint. ;-)

To compete at the lower end Bosch now have plastic bases in their dishwasher which bonded to the metal tub. Heat, detergent and a bonded seem, you can guess the rest.

Kenwood is not an Asian brand, it is a Currys brand. They use the cheapest supplier at the time, a Kenwood appliance can bee made by anyone of of 5 different companies.

If you want something cheap, easy to repair and pretty bombproof then look at Sharp, Servis or Montpelier, they are made by the same company, we sell loads and we never go back to them.

My new build had an Electrolux when I moved in, sold that on for £100 or so and replaced it with a Miele. I'll be taking it with me if/when I move if it has built in as it's been fantastic. I swear no matter what I put in it, it never clogs up.

.......

Definately a Hotpoint, luckily I was in at the time and managed to get the fire brigade out and only "lost" the kitchen.

It's scary how many people that put the dishwasher on before going out or going to bed, I was guilty of this as well, never again!

And now to open up a whole new can of worms:
What tablets/salt/rinse aid? do you guys go for the cheaper ones or more expensive?

I find the expensive brand versions a little better than the cheap Aldi/Tesco/whatever, but it's not worth the price premium. If you can pick up a name brand cheap or on offer, then great, otherwise the cheap supermarket own-brand works nearly as well.

TBH figuring out which settings work best on your dishwasher probably is more important.

I've had a few bekos recently, all seem very good for the money :)
I had a beko it was brilliant while it lasted the internal layout and everything were great sadly it was engineered to fail the day the warranty expired!

Never used salt we are in such a soft water area that the test papers don't even register! Never used rinse aid either!

For years we used Finish but just recently started using Aldi Magnum and I can't tell the difference except for the price!

I just use tablets. Cheap ones.

Usually the budget Tesco ones, but found 'classic' Powerball ones @ £7 for 110 in Poundland (or similar) so have been buying those.

I'm in Boston, Lincolnshire so next to the wash, the water is about as hard as it gets in England lol.
I got the tesco brand salt, finish rinse aid/tablets just to see how they clean, ill get a cheap brand next time and compare

I just use whatever is on offer at Costco - usually a couple of hundred Finish powerball tablets or something like that so it works out just as cheap as the non-branded stuff at supermarkets. They seem to do a good job.

Used to go through a lot of salt so bought that in bulk but now have everything running via a Softener.

Still need to top up the rinse aid every so often though.

I don't believe that the salt brand matters? Seems a pretty simple product.

I use the finish powerball ones too but recently got a load of fairy ones that were being sold off for 99p for a large pack at the co-op (reduced from about £6). I bought every pack on the shelf so I've got enough to last me a couple of years now.

Hence why i went with the cheapest tesco one but the more premium brand other products
