Need computer internals to put hard drives I have back to use, maybe I will replacd my laptop with another pc till I can afford a gaming laptop, don't use often so it's hit & miss on being worth it, anyways I am tempted by a 500gb PS4 @ £110 I have found on Facebook, but thinking whether I should wait and just buy computer bits instead, but having trouble finding decent systems used...

So this is what I was looking at just, but probably took much for what they are?

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £89.88
(includes shipping: £9.90)

I saw a system with an APU 7650k on gum earlier sell for £80, but I due to pay day Friday I had to miss out, but it was an atx build, idealy I want M-atx for my home theatre like case.

I haven't included ram as I can get 4-8gb cheaper used than the cheapest 4gb new on this site.

I would watch the members market Exo.

For example if you saved for a couple of extra weeks you could get something similar to this - Clicky - on the members market for ~£180 (great buy):
  • 2600K
  • P8Z77
  • 32Gb
I would have snapped this up had i been lurking - but it shows what you can get for your money if you save and wait for the right buy for your needs...

cant view the clicky link but £180 is pretty darn good for that

You need to get yourself to 1000 posts, once you have done that activate Trust and then you are good to go on the MM. Plenty of 2500k go for £50 on the MM get a half decent motherboard on it for another £50 and you are golden.

that explains why i couldnt see the link wondered what had happened.

Trust is a feedback system, if you sell on the MM and the person does something bad you click negative with written feedback, or neutral/positive. I've only ever had good experiences with it and have only seen one or two incidents over my whole time there where things have gone sour, I prefer it over eBay.

Well worth getting there as the MM has some great bargains. Bought and sold loads of kit through it.

only 160 posts or so to go shouldnt be too hard and im stuck in the house for the next few days. weather here is terrible and soaking wet so gives me some reading and interaction for a change

Just 44 posts now :)
the joys of realising that the forum has more sections to the site than just about computers:)

i had it bookmarked straight into the hardware forum and few days back i noticed that there was other sections and some of them very good. discovered new tv series etc to watch the full works. its actually a very very good and active forum when you leave the hardware section

Yeah it's also good because you'll regularly see the same people on here, which in turn makes Members Market even better, also 95% are really friendly. Only 3 posts left for you now!

what confuses me is the avatars. i need to remember to look specifically at the username instead.

I've been hoping for a couple of years for uploadable avatars but for some reason we haven't, I remember a mod talking about why we haven't got them but I've since forgotten.
looks like they change going by the amount of posts you have. its a pretty kewl theme just confusing at times

thanks for replies, i havent looked much on MM, but unless i see something down my way that i could collect, im unfortunately unable to make online transactions for private sales(issue with paypal) at the minute.

i nearly got an old dell inspiron 580 tower earlier for £30, but couldnt make the time agreed, so might be gone, it has an intel 1156 board, i3 530 or 550(typo on somebodies part i think), 4gb ddr3(max i believe) 640gb sata hdd, gefore 512mb 310, no windows, but the tower fits atx power supplies and full height cards, so it had potential, i even found out from a search it supports the i7 860 which is like the top one isnt it? found that processor for £40 or a straight up 4c4t i5 will fit..

i dont have time much during the week to do too much, maybe an hour of x1 or nothing at all and took me 3 days to have a moment to sort music for my phone lol, but i want my 3 hard drives back in use(or least my 2x 1tb) and maybe get back to anno 2205 and now i got xbox one streaming to my old laptop(sig) via win 10, i will want something better performing with less of the lag(managed few games fine) even if my internet plays a bigger part in the issue and buying no consoles ill have 100 to spend, maybe bit more if i can get another laptop drive then sell the laptop.

If you have paypal issues, you can use bank transfer, Exo.

You'll have a bigger selection to choose from and 99% of sales have zero issues - I've not used it myself but from forum banter it's a lot safer/honest than ebay. I'm really cynical of making purchases through third parties (second hand) but i wouldn't have any problem buying from the MM as the community on the whole is great plus there's a reasonable percentage that you'll be dealing with someone you've come across in the past. Plus, it's moderated exceptionally well - they really keep on top of things.

I've missed out on a couple of sales - and each one i would have known the member selling (via forum) and would have been very confident making the purchase - big difference to buying from a nobody on the bay.

Something to consider if you're still on the look out as there is the occasional real bargain from people similar to myself who just want to pass on hardware quickly and with minimum fuss and therefore very cheaply - although I tend to give my stuff away to friends and family - but would consider MM as it seems very efficient and friendly.
