Are you still denying that Titans are gaming cards?
Maybe when nVidia said the titan brand of cards are not aimed at gamers what they actually meant by that is it's aimed at enthusiasts?
NVIDIA claims that this card is for gamers that want the very best in graphics hardware as well as for developers and need an ultra-powerful GPGPU device.
his means NVIDIA is walking an interesting line with partners and customers in positioning this as a prosumer card
Yes, the Anandtech articles constantly reference it as a "Prosumer" card. AKA the best damn fastest thing any consumer can get their hands on. It'll do it all; but it's not application certified for professional work. Want that, or double FP16, or decent FP64? Get a top end Quadro card.
Lol wth half of that pcb is just emptiness. Looks like chinese replica to mePCper took their cooler off and measured the die size: https://www.pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/Radeon-Vega-Frontier-Edition-GPU-and-PCB-Exposed
They make it 564mm2.
That's absolutely enormous for 14nm, and means it must have in the region of 17 Billion transistors. The FuryX's 8.9 Billion would be around 290mm2 on 14nm.
There MUST be something wrong with the drivers or stepping on the FE-Vega. I just can't fathom that around 8 Billion transistors are just sitting there being dead weight (since it's currently performing like an overclocked FuryX).
It also had weird power issues, and dips; which is odd because the card is rather beefy looking for power delivery. Still lots of testing to be done in regards to the Frontier Edition.

no, as I've said all along.
titans are prosumer cards, clearly people do buy these for deep learning, and they are used in that scenario, Nvidia markets them as an entry level deep learning card.
they are also the highest end chips, so are the best gaming gpus from their line-up as they have the most cuda cores.
so they can game/do workflow/deep learning etc.
that's exactly what these vega FE cards are too.
I remember there used to be a term gaming enthusiasts.
Well, the problem with earnings calls is that they then think they are forced to make silly statements about launching by 'quarter X' and you get this:
I mean unless the are deliberately holding back the driver branch with all the features until the RE launch, the only explanation about the F's Edition is that they felt forced to launch it this quarter in it's half-finished state due to the statements they made at a previous earnings call.
Wasn't the paper launch of 7970 in Dec 11 similarly because R.Reed promised availability that Q4?
to be fair jayz had to kick and scream to get a titan, he apparently had to call and request and beg for the two for the Terry crews build as they kept saying "no it's not a gaming card it's a deep learning card" and when the Xp released he had to go through it all again.
if you notice basically all the reviewers had to buy titans to test them, only a couple actually got them from Nvidia to show off.
anyway, back on topic.
Nah fam. It's a gaming card first and foremost. Every Titan is. They're just trying to play it down with the Titan Xp so that they can slap some more money on it.no, as I've said all along.

HopefullyWould be funny if it came out and it was on par with 1080 ti to see all the back peddling on here. Doubtful but ya never know.
He's manipulative, but it makes sense. I don't understand why nVidia didn't jump at the chance to provide graphics cards for a PC being built for Terry Crews. He's been getting Titans to review since Kepler but after watching his whiney Maxwell Titan reviews intro I wouldn't be giving him one again if it was me at Nvidia,
He's got a very strange sense of humour and I'm guessing someone saw it and didn't get it.
As for where he got given 2 mark 1 pascal TX's and then went begging for two newer ones I imagine they're sick of him, They told him no and why not? He got given 2 Pascal mark Ones to promote Nvidia through a build that he was doing but he still hadn't done it months later when the newer mark 2 released so he did a video throwing his toy's out the pram because they said no to giving him another two £1200 cards. He's very manipulative like that and I imagine they're sick of him by now. Also worth noting that while they weren't forthcoming with a Titan Pascal on the mark ones release they did give them to a couple of other reviewers.
Yeah, but it also questions why they released the FE in the first place and advertised it as a gaming card too when the RX is suddenly like 40% faster.

The advertising and marketing potential is ridiculous.
Fame and popularity seems to be quite a strange thing I've noticed once they reach 1 million subscribers and how they change.
to be fair, he has said hundreds of times they are GAMERSnexus, their primary focus is gaming, that's why even when cards like the titan Xp launched he said "I doubt Nvidia will send us one as we're a gaming channel and would never recommend a card like this for gaming"
at the end of the day in those initial benchmarks the ryzen was in line with an i5, so he was being technically correct in calling in that.
but, that was the 1800x, and it was losing to a cpu half it's price in games, when he reviewed the 1700 he said it was much much better price to performance, but again noted he wouldn't recommend it for gaming because the r7s were aimed at content creators.

As for the Vega FE, well I don't really know what to think of that. Not much about it makes any sense.
So basically AMD did another half arsed launch of a graphics card.
