Why are you so hung up on procreation as a means to further the species. Religion is a construct to give people meaning, marriage is a social construct to keep mates together long enough to ensure the development and survival of their offspring.

I don't think you know what rationality is.
Reproduction is fundamental for the survival of any species. It's not irrational to know nor state it. You simply wouldn't exist if it wasn't for heterosexual reproduction. The idea is based on 100% rational thought not based on any emotional personal predisposition to homosex.
If you survive for 70 years as a homosexual it's not the same thing as a "species". One life is completely and utterly insignificant in the grand scheme of an entire species.
