In October, I'll be moving to Mexico for a currently undetermined period of time. To begin with, I'll be on a tourist visa, so I won't be able to open a bank account over there.

I currently have a standard NatWest bank account and credit card which I always pay off - I've never been in debt so I assume my credit history is fine. I have no earnings in the U.K., although when I got the NatWest credit card they were happy to accept my Monaco pay slip.

So, I'm now looking for either a bank account or credit card which can be used in Mexico with a minimum of charges / poor rates. I've heard good things about the Halifax Clarity card - is this still the way to go?

Thanks

Yes, was mentioned by Martin Lewis a week or so ago.

Yep or the Nationwide Select credit, fee free and VISA too which has marginally better acceptance (although i dont know about Mexico).

As an aside - why are you going to mexico for an undetermined period of time on a tourist visa? :p

My girlfriend who lives with me in France is Mexican and has a house there so we've decided to go over and then see if we're going to stay long term or not. I first need to learn Spanish, so the first 4-6 months or so I won't be working, hence the tourist visa. I have two job opportunites but I don't want to start working there unless we'll both definitely be happy there long term, hence the tourist visa. If we do decide to stay, I'll obviously change it over and get a proper bank account etc.
