This is the first time i have attempted soldering, before hand i did watch a tutorial on youtube and i used the method in the vid.

For the wires i cut about half to two thirds of an inch with my knipex cutters , then crossed them in the middle and twisted the wires to make a bridge connection. I think its called that atleast.

For the actual solder i heated up the iron , tanned it a bit , then held the iron under the wire untill it was hot enough for the solder to soak through and make the bond.

Well done, great satisfaction out of doing things yourself. A small bit of heat shrink and it will look the part.

There is heatshrink on it but it was 5mm at a shrink ratio of 3:1 . It fits but one of the ends of it is a little melted, put the rest of them on hold untill the new heatshrink arrives.

Bought 3mm at a ratio of 3:1 .

I think the 3mm 3:1 pre-cut heat shrink is what I used too. Nice and clean look.

Nice job, soldering does require a fair bit of practice. I've personally soldered some extra lighting to the switch on the back of my h440 case and put a new button on my mouse after the old one wore out. But i also ruined a zowie fk1 with a bad job so I'm a long way from perfection.
