First baby born without a gender in Canada

Kinda like how my gf and I will be testing a 'no processed sugar' thing on our future kids, don't give them a taste for chocolate, candies, or indeed any junk food, from a young age, and see if they develop to reject them and not be addicts like pretty much all us existing adults :D

The first thing that struck me, was hang on aren't you the guy who was never having kids no way, not me, never? Split with a perfectly wonderful set of breasts because she wanted children and you would rather have the snip ;):p

Secondly, I did the sugar thing and crisps etc. It was one of the hardest battles I have ever undertaken, not because of my son or us, but because everyone else tries to feed your kid crap as a treat because the parents are 'mean'. Grandparents tried to do the same and it caused a few issues. I specifically said no easter eggs and they keep going against your wishes like you're not the normal one. They would buy them anyway, I would eat them and one year took a picture of him playing with the empty boxes in the hope they would get the message. He doesn't drink anything except water or the occasional cordial, cereals have to be under 5% sugar. Weetabix, shredded wheat, rice crispies and the like, some of them are horrifically loaded with sugar and branded as though they are healthy or low fat. Most of his sugar comes from fruit, no fruit juice.

We controlled that really well until he started school, it's now tougher but he still hands me over sweets kids give out on birthdays and party bags and I take them to work. The best thing I did from when he was tiny was make a vegetable patch and have him plant all the seeds and water them. For a long while I thought he wouldn't eat meat because he could eat a plate of veges and reject any meat but he does now and adores oily fish too.

As soon as people started hitting him with sugar he started to change his taste and reject stuff he had previously liked but as soon as we got back on top of it he was fine. I do get treated like an oddball but I can live with it, my son's flying and my friends boys are a pain in the backside at school. He can eat all the sugar he wants when he's 16 ;)

I was going more towards the "grow a set" and implying that they may already be there, they're just not aware of it.

A long time ago I used to think it was a simple joke when people used to say they got accessories for their computers instead of their bodies.

The term gender is not related to biological differences though, it is about how you identify yourself. Thus can a baby identify it's gender? I assume not, so maybe all babies have no gender.

Sex describes biological differences (among other things)

Yes but they've placed it IN the Sex tag... they should have just added a new descriptor below about gender and not had such a pointless discussion.

There are two highly likely Sexes, Male and Female, unlikely sexes are dependent on chromosomal issues i believe.

Oh please, these people are nothing but attention seekers.

They will know when it reaches teen years :p

But yea, obviously certain medical conditions only effect men or woman. Their stupidity could land the kid in a lot of problems later on.

If they don't commit suicide in the mean time because they've been told that the world hates them.

I don't understand this so called present day at times. Why can they not let babies be babies, children be children and let their lives develop...

Do people really look down or in the mirror and say I've been short changed? Or is the grass always greener?

Without knowing if or if not this baby is intersex I have no idea what the silly bluster is all about, the Greeks wrote of the condition!

Heh, it appears quite a number of the human race seems to be so lost.
Maybe but I'm saying biologically sex can be near impossible to define for some, gender is likely to be difficult to choose in such cases!
This is likely as old as sexual reproduction so what the "so called" present day :) has to do with it I don't know?

Also in such cases assigning sex or gender could surely be as risky as not.

Wishing for 100% split of humans as male or female was no more likely to have that outcome in Plato's time, as now.

Totally bizzare, expect public toilets and changing rooms will have to be modified with a 3rd entrance before long

Stupid. There are only two genders no matter what you want to say, defined biologically.
Defined biologically by?
  • the number and type of sex chromosomes;
  • the type of gonads—ovaries or testicles;
  • the sex hormones;
  • the internal reproductive anatomy (such as the uterus in females); and
  • the external genitalia.
Only, even discounting any difference between gender and sex, as I linked earlier, there are instances usually termed intersex (documented deep into ancient Greek history at least) of humans, who seem to fail to easily fit a binary definition.

Not to say that this has (or doesn't) any relevance to the parental decision to avoid gender designation at birth, but following up someone posting about killing said parent, this ignorance is jarring!

Meh, in the grand scheme of horrors that many, MANY children endure in the world, it is actually quite interesting to see how things turn out when gender stereotyping isn't instilled at birth.

My parents did this. I have distinct memories once I was an age of being able to get them myself of hoarding them in my room and stuffing my face late at night. A moderated approach would have been far more effective imo.
