Its nothing new heh - if people are really bored read up on for instance the "Aberdeen incident" - some of the elders of one of the bigger Christian Brethren groups at the time were caught out in a scandalous alcohol fuelled, wife swapping type scenario (simplistic description of what went on) while literally moments before preaching of the virtues against all that.

That's the problem, the profession of belief and the actual possession of a relationship with Jesus are independent of each other.

Love the hypocrisy of the world. Let's all be lgbt(rest of alphabet) friendly, but seize on a chance to report scandalously.
For the record I think its fairly clear these people are not Catholic in its most basic sense of the word. So what you have are people tarring the Catholic church with the actions of a few.
Wonder if the mods would allow other religions to be tarred as such.......
And I guess at least they were just blowing people rather than blowing others up.....

They're loving their fellow man. I'm sure that's what the bible actively promotes!
People are tarring the Catholic Church because this sort of abuse of power (do as I say not as I do) and privilege from the hierarchy is both so common, and so contrary to the teachings they prescribe on their followers.
What people aren't doing is tarring all Catholics with that brush. I don't recall anyone saying anything to suggest that this is reflective of all Catholics.
