Sir John Chilcot has finally spoken on his report.
It would appear that there was some form of subdefuge by our prime minister of the time.
This will probably not be a great surprise to many.
This report took one of the longest wait times I ever recall any report taking, and now thhe author finally speaks.

6 years the report took to draw up, and it was only ordered that a report should be undertaken 10 years after Blair sent troops, grossly unprepared and now with proven questionable motives, to war. 179 soldiers died.

It all stinks.

"The goal was regime change"

Tony Blair should be in prison. He should have stood trial for war crimes. He knowingly lied to parliament in order to put our country at war.

I know so many people who have given up on conventional politics, who don't believe in democracy in this country. How do I argue with them that change can still be accomplished peacefully when when it really matters, justice and democracy are discarded by those in power.

We were telling everyone via this very forum at the time he was gearing us up for war it was all a bunch of made up nonsense.

Its been interesting to see across the years how people who were baying for us to "glass iraq" have changed their opinions to "Tony Blair is a dirty war criminal and should be hung".

Chilcot was paid £790 per day. The other three on the panel around £560, iirc.

Shock horror, a politician lied to us. Who would have thought, amazing!. At least Saddam Hussein is dead and Iraq today has a brighter future. War is a terrible thing but also a necessity in order to make peace. I don't condone violence but sometimes it is needed to keep the peace. With regard to Saddam Hussein I think we did the right thing. Him and his psychotic sons were monsters and the world is much better now without them.

Are you able to write a report saying Tony Blair didn't lie? Because I personally would find that quite difficult.

I don't have a particular opinion on whether they should or shouldn't be alive. I just take issue with your suggestion that the world has been improved for their removal from it.

I completely agree. Our failure was post war planning, but the efforts we have made in turning Iraq into a peaceful Democratic country have just been undermined by their own people. By all accounts they're basically idiots.
