LG V20

I like this phone wish I had waited got an lg g5 excellent value superb camera big screen great sound ,missing waterproofing but has removable battery .nice

After sitting in a Chinese port for 6 days my V20 finally arrived. Not had much time to delve into everything yet but initial impressions are pretty positive including no backlight bleed on the second screen!.

It's a big phone, but with nice ergonomics it fits nicely in the hand and the feel and look of it reflect the fact it's a high end device. No issues with the main screen, nice and bright with solid colours and on the audio side of things the Quad Dac is superb with the accompanying headphones. Not had time to sample the camera yet, but if it's anything like the V10 it'll be up there with the best of them.

Need to play about a bit with the SW but interestingly there's no app drawer, and there doesn't seem to be that much bloatware.

LG are hopeless. You'd think after the Note 7 fiasco they'd be chomping at the bit to release the V20 in as many markets as possible, not to mention this V34 could offset the disappointing G5.

Yep what are LG thinking not releasing the V20 over here, they're shooting themselves in the foot, the LG G5 hardly even made a dent over here I have literally seen no one with one. They really messed up this year.

Few weeks in and some more brief opinions.

Battery, after about a solid day and half it's usually at 10%. Swap out the battery and away I go.

The Quad DAC kicks in with high impedance headphones (50-600 Ohms), so I purchased some 250 Ohm Beyerdynamics and whilst the accompanying LG ones are good, with the 990 Pros the sound is fantastic. The DAC is the outstanding feature on this phone in my opinion.

The camera I've not been so impressed with, it's good and all but it's not got the wow factor. All the images so have been very soft and not sharp enough for my liking, something I could attribute to all modern smartphones but it seems more noticeable on this phone and it definitely feels inferior to the S7. In saying that though I possibly need to spend more time with manual mode to reap results and reach a definitive opinion.

The second screen is still bloody useless, occasional things like a download bar appearing are a nice touch but overall it's underused and I'm not quite sure why LG stuck with it.

I can't see any forthcoming device dragging me away from the V20 at the moment, the Mi Mix is nice but that's just me lusting after the display, and it's simply too big for also. So even after the FedEx custom charge letter, I'm still a happy V20 owner.

For those who got one, how has it been several months down the line? I'm thinking of getting this after my Note 4 died, but I'm hearing reports of image retention on the screen which sounds annoying.

Afternoon,

Currently have a Redmi Note 3 Pro 3GB and looking at upgrading to either the V20 or G6 as I am after a better camera. V20 is about £295 and G6 is £340 for Dual sim models

Which one would people buy just for the camera, or have I missed something else?

Thanks

Barry

I think G6 camera is slightly better.

For dual sim, unlike the v20, G6 doesn't have a separate SD card slot so you cannot use the sd card if you insert sim card in slot 2.
