Tbf I'd rather drive a leased car than a 2k banher ;) leasing base spec "premium" badge cars and pretending that they're the poo is pretty funny. It's easy to impress people who have no idea tho.

Why though? I just think it's money down the drain personally. Yeah I can understand most people want to show off to their friends or neighbours they're driving a premium badged car. Yet, they end up paying an atrocious amount of money for what is a basic car.

£2k car, may have its issues but you'll lose a lot less then what a new car/lease would. That's the way I see it :-/

Some people just aren't interested in cars and also don't want the hassle. A few members of my family lease boggo spec Golfs and Nissan SUVs and always proudly proclaim their new car.

I really like the Dinos but the recent appreciation means they're probably less "enjoyed" than even just a few years ago. Amazing to see one just parked up like that. :D

Indeed I was quite surprised to see one just parked up like that - I hadn't realised they didn't have wing mirrors! Must be even more of a pain to drive!

These people have no idea about cars though, they just want something they preceive as "premium". Even if it's a rubbish spec.

Which is why the roads are flooded with cheap, but expensive German cars.

Warranty, new, less hassle.. :) if I wanted a car that would get me from a to be and that was it I'd get a lease and be done with it.

would the car you lease be a super basic BMW or a more sensible 'lesser' brand car with a decent spec. A kia or hyundai will do a decent warranty on a car and probably cost less to run, but they wouldn't have a good badge.

I think that was the point Vita was trying to make?

I like leasing cars and have no need to impress anyone. I do it because I like having a new car every 2 years, I like knowing how much my car will cost me month to month and I don't have the hassle of selling it when I'm done with it.

I see both sides tbf. I would never buy a new car as the depreciation would give me a heart attack, but at the same time, a good lease deal gets you into a new car with minimal hassle.

My decision to get a lease had nothing to do with a new badge or anything!

I decided to get a lease when expecting our first as I didn't want any hassle with the car when travelling with baby and a Mrs who is clueless about cars - made sense at the time and a year on still makes sense! So much so that I am planning my replacement for next year already (Although I am looking at the second hand market too!)

Ahha. Small world. That's my tatty blue MX5 outside. Will give you a beep one day!

Small world indeed. You'll have seen my other cars outside too. Green Nissan, occasionally a silver Mk1 MX5 and I was smoking around in a Silver Discovery last week too.

It's the norm now. The majority of the cars on the road are like mortgages. Seeing a nice expensive car does not impress me anymore.

Give me a £2k banger any day.

yes, it also tells me the owner isn't a petrol head.............very few are anyway!

I don't think the Germans make any REAL cars any more, maybe only Porsche :/

They got dull and very hands off. They might as well drive themselves!
Jump in an M6, turn TC off and see if it drives it self lol. Cars are getting smarter and some drive themselves but that doesn't mean that there are no cars that require drivers skill.

But even the BMW M cars are not like they used to be. They are big an heavy now.

Audi went full on boring and basically just make various versions of the A3/A4 in different shapes (bar the R8 ofc).

Yes because it's all about safety and gadgets these days, I agree cars are not as "raw" but they can still provide fun. It seems that if you want a proper drivers car with old school feel you need to go to lotus haha.
