Recent approach to forum moderation has reduced thread quality + fun factor

That's rather unfair, without him we'd not even have this forum in the first place. I'm not sure that he has completely left (the forums that is), he still seems to pop back occasionally.

Re: racism, I see it mentioned sometimes in threads yet it is usually done as a general moan, like some people have said something critical about Islamists and someone else pops in with a comment along the lines of 'zomg pathetic to see the racism in this thread' etc.. without actually quoting anyone/citing anything racist. Likewise there is a comment further up this page by a poster who wants to see people banned because of 'trolling' and 'ignorance' whereas I suspect that what he actually wants is for people he doesn't agree with to be banned. I suspect that if such a ban happy culture was actually in place he perhaps might not like it so much as it could easily affect the people he agrees with too.

I've seen this sort of complaint being made before, people are having a discussion then after a few dozen pages one user will claim other people are racist, but they're completely unable to quote any post that has any racism in it. The thread is usually closed shortly after. People simply can't handle a debate, and I'm sorry to say but most of the time it's the left and it involves a certain religious topic.

I've quoted Chris Wilson and called him out on multiple occassions for his blatantly racist remarks.

I'm wary to do that anymore though since I recently got a weeks suspension for just calling someone a hypocrite (or previously a troll due to their fake news posting) - so the moderation around here has made me less likely to challange peoples dubious views.

I'm not sure they'd be too interesting - I suspect for most people who are not permanently banned the majority of the notes would be related to swear words or a 'banned word or phrase' that you didn't actually know was banned until you got an infraction/warning for it. Perhaps some other notes for arguing with another member etc.. pretty standard on an Internet forum.

No, I've used it once as you're the only member on here I've seen use the "touched a nerve" comeback numerous times, it's lame and is usually done when you've ran out of meaningful responses, now you've went for imitation which is very flattering of you darling.

Really ?

That not how I remember it, Spie was properly right wing, but i can't say i remember him being openly rascist, the thing with Spie was if you disagreed with him and were an ass hat about it, he had no qualms just kicking you off the forums. I agreed with a grand total of basically nothing of what he said and had many a discussion with him, but it always remained respectful and I never felt his wrath so to speak.

For me the forums back then were better than they are now (mabye it's because i tend to just lurk these days) but it seems like many things out there to quality of the discourse has gone through the floor, being replaced with "OMG rascist" or OMG communist".

There are plenty of pro-Brexit posters that are not banned from that thread or Speakers Corner. Anyone that has received SC strikes has done so not because of their political views.

Why is it the only subject restricted to one thread in the least popular part of the forum?

It’s impossible to have any discussion on politics now without some mod popping up with yellow text and pointing towards the heavily censored echo chamber.

It was moved out of GD due to far too much bickering. I'll mention your request to the rest of the team to see if they think the approach should change.
