hi i have the aorus gaming 7 motherboard and have just brought two case fans, at the moment i have 1 case fan at the back and two at the front i also have a H100i v2 cpu cooler, the mother board has 8 fan slots but i cant seem to see any - and what fanslots can my case fans go into?

Use a torch to illuminate the inside of the case and look for fan header locations with four pins. They will take three pin (or rather three hole) fans as well as long as you stick them in the right way (the headers have a tab that aligns with the grooves on the fan cable connector). And each header tends to have small writing beside/on top/below the pins, reading something like "CPU_FAN," "CPU_OPT," "SYS_FAN 1," "CHAS 1" (System/Chassis Fan) etc. You should try and use any "CPU" headers for your H100i v2 and the rest for case fans but it doesn't really matter much.

If your eyesight isn't great, tell me which of these Aorus Gaming 7 boards is the one you have, and I'll mark the fan headers for you on a pic:

Also, wouldn't be a bad idea to say which case fans you got, to make sure they don't have a molex connector instead of three pin/hole connector.

i have this one " Gigabyte Aorus GA-Z270X-Gaming 7 Intel Z270 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard" the fans that over clockers put in were the h100iv2 and the rear case fan, but my pc still gets warm so i brought two new fans to vent from the two empty fan slots, the inside of my pc is quite crowded so i cant see very clearly

Cheers. Ok first things first - these are all the fan header locations on your motherboard, marked in red:

Don't use the two marked in green, those are for external temperature sensors. Got the pic off a review of your board by Tweaktown.

Next - the Kolink Vault Mid-tower supports either 120mm or 140mm fans on the top, so you're good to place your Corsair ML120s there.

Question - are the 2 x 120mm led fans the case brings still placed at the front or did you take them out? You would see if they are, when the PC is switched on.

Okay. I think you'd find that your new Corsair ML120s would be better at the front of the case, pushing through the H100i v2. And those led 120mm case fans could be moved to the top as additional exhaust. But for sure it'll be easier to just leave things as they are, and put your new ML120s at the top, if you prefer.

What I think might be going on with regards to high temperatures, is that the radiator is obstructing intake, and may need you to tweak the fan profiles for the 2 x 120mm led fans on the front and the 2 x 120mm H100i fans. Meaning, increase their minimum RPM to force more air into the case. They might be on an RPM profile optimized for silence. In any case, see what effect your new fans have first.

i'll try the them at the top for a few days to see if it helps if not i will switch them, i have recently been using corsair link for the H100i as when i first got my pc they were turned off thanks to the motherboard, when they go up to 2800rpm as its on performance mode, whilst it keeps the cpu core temps to 40-50degrees solid i notice after an hour or two where the motherboard and gpu connect theres a pocket of hot air which sits on the gpu copper plate therefore heating the gpu much higher, my hopes are these new fans will suck the little bit of hot air out as this is hot air pocket is in the middle of my case, another thing that doesnt help is the case fans are at locked speed or they just have an awful max rpm as they stay the same no matter how much i mess with my fans or the temps of the case when i put my hand next to the only exhaust fan i can only just feel the cold air, my goal is to get all my fans to be these new corsair ones as they have a max of 2800 rpm

Sounds good. There's another option too if it becomes necessary - move the radiator to the top (apparently the top can fit 240 and 280 rads), and just leave the front for case fan intake.

I wonder if the led case fans are molex connected and that's why they don't change speed. You'd have to inspect the cables by opening the side panel on the other side (non-windowed side), if you wanted to find out.

ok i will probably send it to overclockers to do if i have to move the cpu cooler i hate to mess that up as i have never messed with a pc before - i saw on the image you edited the gpu/cpu opt can i use this slot for my new case fans? as the other open slots are at the bottom right of the board, if i use this slot can i control the fans? - if i can use that slot i will get a spliter for them unless the cables are long enough (do you happen to know the length of the fan cables for the new fans)?

You can use the CPU/CPU_OPT fan headers on the motherboard if they aren't already being used, yes. As long as you remember which fan is in which header when it comes to changing their RPM profiles, sure.

Not sure about the length of the cables but fans often come with optional extensions anyway, you'll probably find they'll reach several fan header locations no worries.

P.S. In the pictures you sent me https://imgur.com/gallery/BIyjK we can see what could be causing the hot air pocket. The radiator at the front is one thing, but also the radiator tubes combined with the video card's power cables folded above the card instead of below. That's a lot of cable volume there obstructing airflow over the card.

ok thats useful to know thanks, how will i control them then? as at the moment i can only control the H100iv2 from corsair link, as these new fans are corsair will i be able to control them from the app as well?

im looking at corsair link and am im wondering about these MB speeds
QH5gVm2.jpg

im guessing the low speed ones are the front fans and the 994rpm is the rear fan/ corsair link shows these 3 as being at the max rpms

ah yeah that probably does not help, is that a simple of job of just pushing them down? - everything in the system is how overclockers made it so i wasnt sure if i could push the big bunch down with out breaking it

Yeah, if you power down the PC (switch the PSU off at the back too) it should be an easy job of unplugging the video card's power connectors and running them below the card instead. The connectors have a little tab you press to help release them from the video card. Make sure you re-connect them firmly afterwards.

i will do that tomorrow then when i install the new case fans

I'm guessing MB Fan #1 is the H100i v2's fans. They may be connected with a splitter so you just see one fan reading. I'm hoping it's that because otherwise it would mean that they are connected to H100i v2 Fan: and running at 0 RPM.

GPU and Pump RPM speak for themselves.

Not sure what's going on with MB Fan #4 and #5 lol. Could be a false reading, or could be those 2 case fans you say don't change speed.

The new fans should show up as MB Fan #2 and #3 in Corsair Link, or H100i v2 Fan if it's vacant.
