The equivalent 1070 is £469 today but they've taken a bit of an increase due to miners so calling it £420 is reasonable, I've considered buying a 1070 several times in the last year and don't recall them going under 400, The odd fan blower model might of though, Even if you call it £400 it still means the 970's replacement has increased by £140 or more. On release we got a Founders tax for what was meant to be a superior blower model with promises of aftermarket models being available for cheaper. The only preorder models I recall seeing as cheaper are the EVGA ACX card which did not turn up until long after release and proved to be defective, Plus pricing shot up and then only really dropped back once the ICX was on route and they wanted to get rid of the ACX stock. Hold on this is a Vega thread? To sum up Nvidia suck for what they pulled with Pascal and it's the sort of suckage that'll put Dyson to shame.

Agree with you.....What would be good to see did the prices in the US$ increase the same from 9 series to 10 then we will not have peeps banging on about its about the brexit weak pound ect ...

AMD RX VEGA XTX, VEGA XT and VEGA XL Variants Confirmed – Add-in-Board Partner’s Custom RX Vegas Ready For Mass Production By Late August

http://wccftech.com/amd-rx-vega-xtx...m-rx-vegas-ready-mass-production-late-august/
Oh dear if true, the cut down XL is the only one the AIBs are doing, the XTX is the water cooled Frontier, the XT is the RX, which is going to be air cooled, so will have that ****** blower the Frontier air cooled is using.

Unless I misread, I don't think it says that anywhere.

All it says is that AMD won't be producing the XL and letting AIBs do that. Doesn't say AIBs won't be making XT or XTX's.

Yup, just like the 580 (that consumes as much power as a 1080 at half the speed). Bad times for AMD, hope they can turn it around at some point (and knock that **** fab GloFo on the head, they're doing AMD no favours with their crappy implementations with complex chips!! CPU-wise seem fine, but they're vastly simpler to produce)
That's what happens when you overclock a chip and re-release it. Both Polaris and Ryzen are very power efficient but only within a certain envelope and unfortunately they need to be pushed beyond that to compete with their rivals in raw performance.

No he means they will be the same as the frontier editions

The Fury X never had a FE/Air version though.

Although I doubt they will be just reused ones since Vega is 8GB max and FE is 16GB. Cost savings there already.
Then Higher/stable clocks as well.

It better not be, we don't need coolers that making whining noises :p

That implies the Vega XTX is a rebadged/renamed Fury X? How does that make sense.

Or do you mean, simply reusing the same AIO cooler as the Fury X?

No he means they will be the same as the frontier editions

Weren't the Fury X cards all identical and when a manufacturer sold them under their own brand they were essentially just a re-badge?

Not rebadged, reference design cards like the Titan X that can't be changed.
Re-badged implies renamed, aka ( Vega XTX ) same card as the Fury X from what I gathered from your post.

No, I've clarified what I meant.

One of the recent leaks did say FE was identical to the big RX. That was rumoured previously as well. It makes sense to standardise.

It would, but Raja confirmed that Vega RX tops out at 8GB HBM2, so cannot just reuse the Frontier Edition.
At most they use the overkilled PCB the FE has for the XTX, which would be good as Buildzoid was extremely impressed by how well it was made.

Hoping the extra bit of power saved with 50% HBM means a extra clocks, and the AIO keeping them stable at peak frequency.
