MX5 major MOT fail — what would you do?

We paid £3k for it originally, so chucking the same at it again to keep it on the road seems excessive. I would rather put that money (and whatever I could get for the car) towards something new.

Fair enough, sort of my first point (You wouldn't be happy with it for another 5 years)

I wouldn't want to buy another car without Air Con nowadays.

It is the only thing that puts me off really old cars (Otherwise I prefer them)

Any old cave man can make a Cold room Warm. Making a Warm room Cold however is the mark of true civilisation!:p
