New Monitor 1440p/4K

Hi all,

Looking at buying a new monitor ready for when I upgrade my PC (i7 & 1080Ti) as well as for connecting my Xbox One/Xbox One X when upgraded. I don't really want anything bigger than 27" so I'm presuming it's better to stick with 1440p. If I did want to go for 4K would I need something bigger, more than 30"?

I think I'm after G-Sync and probably IPS as it won't just be used for gaming. Not too sure on a budget.

Any help will be great! :)

In that case I will definitely be sticking with 1440p. As I would still use the monitor for both I'm not sure if I would be better off with Freesync, G-Sync or neither now! If the Xbox One X is Freesync and the 1080Ti would be G-Sync is there a better option?
 
The best 2560x1440 monitor is Eizo Foris FS2735. After that I'd say the latest Dell UP and HP OMEN 32 but that's a 32" screen. Those are the best I've seen anyway.
 
A 4K 40" HDR tv would be a better option imo :) that is what im thinking of moving up to next from 1440p G-sync.

Samsung 40MU6400 is around £500.
 
What games do you play? Be careful with TVs and latency, although they definitely offer the best vfm at large size.

I went from a 27"@1440 to a 32"@4k and can say the extra room is very nice. But then the jump from 1080 to 1440 was also decent, and at 27" 1440 is a sweet spot.

I have a 50" Panasonic CX802B and use that for Xbox games where I'm not playing competitively. For FPS games etc. I tend to use my monitor with the Xbox instead and I think a new 27" 1440p will be well suited both for Xbox One X competitive titles and my new PC once built.

Hopefully that sounds reasonable!
 
There is a reason for not going above 30" TV or monitors for competitive gaming ! If your a FPS person and play competitive games like PUGB or CS Source forget a big TV ! You will see your Kill . D Ratio massively drop ! you're eye field of vision drops massively when you go for a bigger screen ! I have tried FPS games on 40" TV and its really bad ! if you play Car Games or FIFA then go for it because you don't need precision aiming for these types of games.

Most of us sit behind a desk with a screen 50 cm away from us ! The max screen size in my opinion is 30" Max for desktops for competitive gaming.
