so 3 days after completing my build it would appear my motherboard has died :(
Noticed the time was out when I turned it on this afternoon, changed it to the correct time but noticed it was losing about 30minutes every couple of hours.
Just went to turn it off and windows shut down but fans and mobo leds stayed lit. Has to turn the power off at the switch to get it off. Went to turn it back on and noticed there's not a single led lit and not a kick out of it when trying to turn it on.
To say I'm a bit peeved if an understatement. As it's only a few weeks old am I better just contacting the seller or rma'ing directly with gigabyte?

If you wish to RMA the board just let us know, [email protected] is the e-mail address.
cheers for the reply - I may have to take you up on that.

bit more info though - which makes it a bit more confusing.

tried turning it back on before I went to bed last night and it booted up fine, everything seemed to be working ok. system time was out again though. went to power off and windows shuts down but everything else stays powered on, fans, water pumps, leds etc.
pressing and holding the power button doesn't make it power off, only way to do that is to literally pull the plug. but if you do pull the plug it refuses to come back on straight away. seems you have to leave it a bit before powering back on.

would a dodgy bios battery be causing this?! the system clock losing time is the only thing that's making me think maybe the battery - i'll change it out first and see if it makes any difference. failing that I'm not sure what else to do other than rma.

ah....! @Thekwango what Windows Build are you using ??

I just got mine up and running a week ago and used Windows 10 Pro- but was a build version of when it was first released! everytime I shut it down it would just stay on but the screen went black!

even a few times when doing the windows updates, would be 100% complete then when it should have restarted went Black screen but powered on. Did this a few , wasn't until I update finally to the latest/last windows version- bios and Gigabyte drivers along with Nvidia etc etc it was shutting down fine.

Actually had this problem with my Ryzen Aorus build as well!

win 10 home. did a fresh install at the weekend and updated. running f6f bios.

it's the system clock losing time that's making me lean towards it possibly being battery related.

Does sound like the board has an error, e-mail the address I gave you. Refer to this conversation in the e-mail and I will make sure we get it looked into ASAP.

ok buddy, will do.
I have a new battery sat beside me. i'll pop it in first just in the off chance it is a simple as that rather than wasting anyone's time. if it doesn't work i'll drop an email across

hopefully it is a battery but worth getting back to official Bios as well- give yourself the best chance . Could be both or could be one - least then can be noted on the Gigabte US forum if it is a Bios issue causing system clock to lose time etc etc

yea I'm going to nip home and change the battery over and see what happens. then i'll change back to the official F6 bios

well changed the bios battery and all appears grand. shutdown and restarted a few times seemingly without issue - so fingers crossed all is good

So it would seem the problem isn't fixed after all. Came home from work, pressed the power button and nothing.
There is power to the board as the onboard power button is lit up and USB devices connected to the pc are getting power.
'Jump' started the psu just to be certain and sure enough it's coming on and powering the fans/water pump etc.
Cpu is at stock, ram is set to xmp with the frequency manually set to 2933.
Have pressed clr cmos button and bridged the cmos jumpers for good measure. Gonna let it sit for half an hour and see if it comes to life.
Guess this is the joy of Ryzen!?
Anything else to be checking. Doubt there's any point pulling the ram sticks and checking individually as there be a post attempt of some sort even if the ram had gone wonky.
Only other option I can think to try is trying to power on from the secondary bios (board has dual bios, bios 2 is still at factory default)
Any one else any ideas?
System specs are
R5 1600
Gigabyte Gaming 5 motherboard
Corsair 3200 lpx ram (v5.39 which is supposedly supported on latest bios revisions)

well I tried everything I could think of above - even some things I found on the interwebz and still nothing. only light on the board is the power switch light - no leds lit on the bios section to show which is in use. guess it's rma time - gonna be a pain dismantling it all as it's now watercooled.

@GIGA-Man any particular info I should include in the rma request email?

would check the ram sticks one at a time- just for good measure! the more you list on any RMA whether it be to reseller or back to vendor the better- amount of ram sticks that have caused my problems over the years is insane - although no issues with nay dd4 at the moment :)
